Re; The use of Comic Continuity in Comic based film

As a former hard core Marvel Head I'm happy to see the Marvel films using callouts to "the larger Universe". But so far we've only had callouts, not real Continuity.

DC is just different. You can have a good Detective story with Batman as the Detective, and never reference why he's tracking down murderers dressed as a Bat. You can also have a good action movie, Spy Thriller, Noir Crime film etc with Batman in more or less prominent roles. I think you could do the same with Superman: stop making films that are all about the character and make films that use Superman as the Protagonist and feature a real story.

Continuity in the DC world is simply a plus: in the Marvel Universe it played a much bigger role IMO.

It's not like were are speculating that Iron Man "MIGHT" interact with Captain America... we know all this is going to happen, the continuity is being built. We know Stark's dad had a hand in building Caps Shield, we know Thor's Hammer feel during Iron Man 2, we know Hulk is a distant cousin of the Super Solider Program... all of this is being laid in now and we know it.

Iron man 1 & 2, and The Incredible Hulk are established to be in continuity to one another and we have it confirmed they are also in continuity with Cap and Thor which all comes to a head in Avengers.

I know Bale has acting chops a-plenty, but I sure hope he scales back on the GGGggrrrGRRrrGGRGgggggrrrr throat sounds he tries to make while speaking lines.

I don't know, Inception seems to have had the opposite effect on me as everyone else here: it's actually really diminished any interest I have in the last Batman installment. BUT, if it helps Nolan make more mind blowing films like Inception, I think it's definitely welcome news.
