I just cannot get excited for a director of Fincher's calibre wasting his time on remaking such a fresh and excellent foreign film. It seems like a waste.

Wasn't Max von Sydow up for that role? Or was it just Taking A Meeting bullshit?

Plummer's ace though, nice to see him becoming so in demand recently.

Wait, so they're not changing the names or the location?

In fact, the weird thing is that it was reported that the original casting calls required the actors to be able to do a convincing Swedish accent-- so they can convincingly sound like native Swedish speakers who are, for no explicable reason, speaking English.

That's absurd. Now, I don't particularly care for the original film, so this remake doesn't bother me, but I fail to see anything so immensely Swedish about the story that it can't be transposed to a different country, justifying a second take on the material.
