Whoaaaa there, Sanchez!

1) His comments on Stewart are completely deranged. I think he's either a nutter or he's never seen TDSwJS
2) I have an intense dislike for Sanchez. He's a dolt, and he reads illiterate tweets on live television as if they were worthy of the public's attention. Maybe that's the reason his peers think he's a "second tier" talent. It's the reason I don't watch CNN anymore (as in, at all, ever, for any reason). I hope that he's fired, and maybe just maybe this story will lead to that outcome
3) He does kind of have a point that Jewish people don't face the kind of discrimination that Hispanics or Muslims face in this country.. but I'm not sure what that point has to do with anything. Why bring it up? Why bring it up when discussing Jon Stewart? Just throwing it out there makes him seem like a bigot.

Now.. there *is* a discussion to be had about the US media's coverage of the Palestine/Israel issue, but despite his job in broadcasting Sanchez doesn't seem too eager to tackle that subject. Instead he chooses to to focus on pointless "my minority is more oppressed than your minority" squabbling.

I think, if anything, his remarks offer empirical proof that Sanchez isn't bright. You only need to listen to him speak on television for five minutes to get that impression, but these remarks should be the new exhibit A when making that case in the future

PS Despite his name, he looks like a white guy. Just sayin'.

"Elite, Northeast establishment liberals" is the new "New York sense of humor", huh?

Maybe he was confused and thought he was interviewing for a job at Fox News?

Sanchez proves Pete Dominick's own point: while other prejudices come and go, no matter what their political or economic status in a society, and unlike the immigrants they came over here with, they'll always be the target of this kind of shit.

Oh, Jon hurt Ricky's feelings.

God, I hope TDS runs a new episode tonight to cover this.

That media-controlling Jew is a real bigot!

I love his complete ability to give a specific example of bigotry, despite the host asking him over and over again. "Look at the people who he surrounds himself with!" What, you mean the British guy, the Indian Muslim, the two black guys, the half-Asian girl, or...uh...the two Canadians? Oh wait, no Hispanics! Clearly because Jon hates them!

Someone taze him.

Actually, Stewart was called out on his show for not having any white Christian American men on his show. For shame.

Not saying this is why Sanchez is dogging Stewart, but it should be noted: Cuban-Americans are one of the demographics most likely to be Republicans.

And he's outta there!

Quote:
CNN issued a statement Friday announcing that anchor Rick Sanchez has been let go from the network after giving a radio interview in which he insinuated Jon Stewart was a bigot and CNN was "run by Jews."

“Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company," the statement read. "We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.“

Under. November is Sweeps.
Under. I don't think that Fox wants him. He brings nothing to the table.
It's like he wanted to get fired.
Heh. Of course, this is going to convince him more that he's right.

How soon til he screams that his 1st amendment rights have been violated?

He brings the appeal of having been ousted by the librul media. Victimhood is currently big on the right. Remember: nobody watched Glenn Beck's shitty show on Headline News before he got canned.

(Also, never would be the "over.")

Sanchez thinks he was being singled out for being an empty-headed tool because of his ethnicity. Which, of course, just further proves he's an empty-headed tool.

Glenn Beck just did a radio piece about how much of an idiot Sanchez is so I doubt these two could coexist at Fox News.
I almost wish it were Monday. The Daily Show and Colbert are going to be pretty epic about this.

But he fits the demo Fox is aiming for.

No, he doesn't (unless he'd be willing to change his tune on immigration)

HITCHENS DEFENDS SANCHEZ!

I was not sure if I should post this here, or in the GET WELL SOON CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS thread. In the end, I figured he'd want his new opinion pieces discussed in the context of the subject that he's addressing, and not as part of a larger discussion on the state of his health

EDIT: BTW, not sure I agree with Hitch here. As previously stated, not EVERYTHING Sanchez said was "wrong", but the bulk of his statement does not lead me to think his dismissal was a mistake (plus I already hated Sanchez and it's good to see him go, regardless of the reason)

Sanchez should stay fired. Not for his comments, but because he's a dipshit and pretty terrible at his job.

Send him back to the local stations.
