Except with boobs and hips. Maybe they can pad her a little.

You know I am going to make it my personal goal to get you to enjoy my presence!

I am really not that bad of a guy, in fact a lot of people rather like my conviction, even in the face of unpopular opinions.

I disagree! Women don't have boobs... boobs are just fatty cells pleasantly placed on the chest. Boobs are retarded people, I don't understand why people don't understand that.

Can you give me one example that this is true? Just one!

Heh. Just kidding...mostly.

Well it is mostly the real life people I know. I am still trying to hone my online debate style. I fully understand I can come across wrong at times, especially when passions rise. But one thing you guys will (hopefully) come to realize, I might have unique tastes and opinions, but I am very honest about them. I am not here to fight, I am here to engage. By engaging I learn, and by learning I can make better informed opinions to further engage on other topics.

If I come across as contrarian or worse, retarded, it isn't intentional.

Don't take it personally. You're not a member of the community around here until you've been gang-raped in an argument about cinematic minutia.

The rule used to be that you weren't a member of the community until Devin called you a moron. But that won't be happening anymore, so we have to settle for this.

If it helps my case Devin did call me the worst kind of racist he has ever interacted with.

Edit to Add:

And I don't take it personally... if I did I would simply not bother. The internet is a big place, I just really like Chud and it's community. A conversation like this would have ended in name calling, banning and insults most other places. I might be a little rough around the edges, but I would rather be challenged... makes for a much better internet experience.

I'm sure Lindsay Lohan has dove right back into that pile of blow Tony Montana style on hearing this news.
She'd have to pull her head out of it long enough to hear the news.

Jesus Christ this thread.

Did anyone mention that Emma Stone looks like MJ as depicted in the comics of the 60's and 70's? Because my brain started to boil at the end of the 1st page and I stopped reading the posts.

Yeah, that did eventually happen. And it is a pretty true statement...

Also a true statement... this thread got odd, god bless the internet, only here*

They could still cast Wasikowska for Gwen.

I dig that suggestion because she is pleasant on the eyes, but I don't know if she would be best for the part.
The oh so demanding part of superhero girlfriend.
Let's hope she doesn't end up in a fridge.

Not sure if I support this move.

1) Miss Stone is OK, I guess. She was pretty good in SUPERBAD, though I'm less fond of her work in ZOMBIE LAND (some of my dislike for her in that movie is admittedly irrational, and based more on the script than her as an actress)
2) Isn't Mary Jane supposed to be a normal girl with a dream of becoming famous that she has to struggle to realize? Ms Stone is someone whom I'd find difficult to believe in that role, I think. Dunst was much better casting, IMHO.

I was a fan of hers on IN TREATMENT and AMELIA, so I'd have to second the suggestion that Mia Wasikowska would have been better casting.

Not really. That was more of Raimi and Co.'s doing for the previous series. While she was quite literally the girl next door in the comics, Mary Jane was much more of a firecracker/party girl than Gwen Stacy, Peter's main love interest at the time. She makes a pretty easy transition into modeling and acting.

I could definitely see Stone pulling off the fun-loving Mary Jane. And, if they really wanted to go that route, her sadder side. One thing that is pretty true-to-form from the comics in the Raimi films is her crappy home-life as a child, although there it was from before she moved next door to Peter, to live with her aunt.

Haven't seen Easy A yet, but I saw Zombieland on DVD recently and I'm sold on Emma Stone as Mary Jane. Stone has an easygoing personality and an alluring appearance that can get any young man hot under the collar, plus she's a pretty decent actress. I have voiced my opposition against the Spider-man reboot, but the movie appears to assembling alot of talented young actors that may make a difference in how the reboot will turn out.
Well, my enthusiasm over this is lessened somewhat by the frustrations that surface when I look at the major weak spots in the team. To be perfectly honest, I think the reboot may ultimately turn out to be a case of a competent director's dream cast being trampelled by an untested director who can't do them justice. Even if the focus is primarily on Peter Parker's pre-suit origins as a young man (which it most likely will be, for at least the first half of the movie), I can't see Marc Webb's style translating well into juggling multiple storylines and executing action on the scale of someone swinging around New York City. I'm not counting him out entirely because I'd like to see a movie that fully does justice to the character of Peter Parker, but Webb sounds too much like Chris Weitz, who is pretty decent with "water cooler" character moments but not with fast-paced action.

In other words: Emma Stone = great, but Mark Webb? Not so much, at least for now.

Nope. Parker hit the jackpot. Read a comic.
I just realized that Emma Stone is NOT a natural red head. She's blonde. Oh my.

**Removed to properly follow board procedures. Apologies.**
post #123 of 133
I sure hope you submitted that as news before you posted it here.
I figured that one of the writers would discover it sooner than later, but in the meantime, that this would be the most relevant thread to post updates about the state of Emma Stone's casting in the reboot. Have I ran afoul of some procedure?
You're supposed to submit that kind of thing as news if there's not an article about it yet. If nothing comes of it within a few hours of you submitting it, then you can bring it up on the boards.
Huh, didn't see that one coming. Still a good casting I'd say...
Ah, alright. Sorry for that little slip-up. Post edited.
Looks like Emma Stone might not be Mary Jane after all.
She's a natural blonde? I'd like to see pictures, because this is news to me.
sucks I had to go to another site for the news.. anyways..

Who's to say that MJ will even be in this film?

The article that's linked in the very first post. The article that quotes Sony as saying "The role of Mary Jane Watson will be imminently offered to Emma Stone."
I think MJ will be in noticeably enough, but only as a minor character in the high school to set her storyline up for the sequel. Clearly, the focus in the reboot will be primarily on Gwen Stacy as Peter Parker's first love interest, but I was under the impression that both characters will be featured.
