This was inevitable, I suppose. I'm wondering if Jackson's not terribly energized as far as the project is concerned and, whereas del Toro would have fought a studio-mandated 3D job if the they couldn't meet his conditions, he's just content to let it slide in order to avoid further setbacks and direct. Although, I would recant this view if it turns out that they're shooting natively in 3D with the latest builds for the technology.

Dec. 2012 eh? I'll believe it when I see it on a trailer. And if true I hope it's before the 21'st of December, before the universe goes Mayan on our ass.

Viva la 3D Revolución! This is excellent news, not only that HOBBIT will be filmed in native 3D, but that Mr Oliver is now a full fledged 3D Revolutionary.

PS Mr Oliver, I concur with your take on "post converted" "3D" films. They are an insipid scam being peddled at gullible film goers, and the sooner they are ended, the better off cinema (and the Revolution) will be

I'm not sure why you'd think Del Torro would fight 3D. Del Torro is now out there on the front lines with Comrade Cameron, ready to bring the Revolution to 'The Mountains of Madness'. He's no counter revolutionary
