They're both great, but Monster is OWNED by Nicki Minaj. Her verse at the end is unfuckwithably devastating.

Quoted for truth.

Has anyone heard her album? Is it any good?

Not yet. I've heard mixed things, but I definitely plan on giving it a listen.

I loved her verse the first few times I heard it but now I find myself skipping the track as soon as she's about to get on.

Same with the Chris Rock skit at the end of Blame Game.

Other than that I absolutely love this album. This year has been pretty damn good for rap albums.

Big Boi - Sir Lucius Left Foot waited so long for this one, and it does not disappoint

Rick Ross - Teflon Don Album is straight up luxury, Maybach music indeed

Fat Joe (!?) - The Darkside vol. 1 most surprisingly good album of the year for me, didn't think Joe had it in him anymore to make a completely street album.

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Just an all around excellent album that I'll be playing for a long time. My only complaint is I was too familiar with a few of the tracks after the GOOD Friday releases and the constant commercials for The Social Network almost ruined Power for me.

All of these albums I can throw on and have an awesome time listening.

General consensus from friends is "No.". Apparently she went a little too radio-friendly R&B-ish stuff, which is a damn shame because I'd push over a little old man to get to a pure rap album from her.

There were Social Network commercials set to Power? All the one's I saw had Go Do by Jonsi in them.

This has been a really good year for Hip Hop I think my two favorites through are How I Got Over by The Roots and Culdesac by Childish Gambino.

I have. For the most part, I don't like it. Way too much generic radio fodder on there.

Uhhh...why?

This one I'm with you on. The albums biggest weak spot, if you ask me.

Just personal preference probably. I guess to me something about her voice annoys me on that particular track after listening to it for a while.

Also I got kind of spoiled on the track by some remix that someone made that stuck a Biggie verse at the beginning and a Tupac verse at the end, so now when I listen to the real version without those two I am disappoint.

+1 on wishing RZA had a full verse on So Appalled

The first time I heard it, I was wondering what the fuck was going on. And then he started talking about how she got him the watch that Twista wore on the cover of source and I completely lost my shit.

That being said, I've only sat and listened to the ending about three times.

I gave this a chance based on the praise over the best-of thread. Absolutely amazed. My early favorite is Devil in a new dress and the 2 tracks where Jay-Z appears.

The Chris Rock segment also has that golden pussy reupholstery line.
I would gladly pay again to get a version of Blame Game without that stupid Chris Rock bit.
Seconded. I fucking hate that part.
This one's growing on me. The calls that this album is something of a culmination of everything Kanye's done to this point seem apt. Every track up to So Appalled is pretty fantastic. I haven't really delved into the album too much after that, but I'm expecting it to end with some bloat, like every other 'Ye record.
No. The last three tracks are the strongest and most thematically coherent on the whole album.
Yeah, the ending sticks the landing in a huge way. The last two tracks especially might be one of my favorite "tracks" of 2010 (it makes sense if you haven't heard it yet).

All Of The Lights is crazy great. But that's not to overshadow the rest of the album, which is also great. The only song I'm not really fond of yet is Hell Of A Life.
Lost in the World is the best song of the year. Truth.

Here is a rundown of every song in My beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

The video for "Monster" is fucking amazing.

This is the best album I have heard in a very long while and I'm slapping myself for not getting it until this past week. I know its cheesy because it's the main single, but I just love "Runaway". The opening portion of it will work well in a film/TV show.

The RZA's my favorite part of that track but before reading your post, I hadn't noticed he's barely there. My main problem though with this track is I hate the first verse where Kanye rhymes "Allah" with "Prada".

This is insanity. That track is gibberish and not very good.

You wrote a bad song, Kanye!
Lost In The World took a few listens to grow on me, but it definitely did.

+2 on RZA love. He spat the "ridickulous" pronunciation like he owned it. Which he does.

Lastly, Nicki's Monster verse straight obliterates. I don't see how there's even any debate.
Another reaction: while the Chris Rock coda to Blame Game reduces the power of the song, I think there's an element of tragedy to it that justifies its inclusion. It's comic for sure, but for me it held a pang of melancholy that still works. I think the girl's rote "Yeezy taught me" recitation helps the monologue immensely. If anything, the "Yeezy upholstered my pussy" deviation does more damage to the track than Rock's rambling. I'm still torn on it, and I wish it hadn't made the final cut, but I'm still disturbed and intrigued by the ramifications present in the narrative.
Even though it pushes the track's length to breaking point I kind of like the Rock thing. I like what a gutsy move it is to put such a tonal shift in there, and I think it works quite well as a kind of bridge between that brooding track and the more uplifting Lost In The World (which is a great song).

So Appalled is still the track I'd jettison. It drags the album to a halt and is kind of retarded. Not sure what I was thinking bitching about Monster before though.
So Appalled might be the weakest track on this album, but it'd be the best track on 90 percent of mainstream rap albums released this year.

Plus, has there ever been a truer lyric than "Life can be sometimes ridiculous"?
Devil in a New Dress and Hell of a Life are the only non-classics for me. Everything else is great and still very exciting for me. I love this record.

I disagree with you on Devil in a New Dress, that track worked for me; and is probably the only time I actually enjoyed a Rick Ross verse.

Hell of a Life almost lost me as well though, but there is enough going on in the production side to keep me interested.

I must be the crazy one because I love the deprvaity and the production on Hell of A Life, and the crazy celebratory capper that is Lost in the World.
