Sucks. feels like sloppy seconds...it would be a shame for him to settle for Wolverine, who's just...tired, enough of Logan already...I couldn't get excited about that I'd rather see him on something cool and worthy of his considerable talents, like Rendevouz With Rama or Dune or even the Alien prequel.

anything that gives me a well made Wolverine/Samurai film is good. Even this.

Eh, such a waste if he does it. I'd really really love to see Aranofsky reteam with Our Hugh - but not like this. Not like this.

After watching the last Wolverine movie, I didn't think there was any possible way for me to care about a sequel. Yet, I actually care all of a sudden.

I really hope he does something else, though.
If he really does do this, good for Wolverine. If he doesn't, and does something else, it'll be good for us I'm sure.

This is where we part ways, RD. (No, not forever! Never forever!) To me, it's a win across the board if this works: Aronofsky, who's been connected to various comic-book and geek-friendly projects for years now, finally gets to fulfil his ambition in this area. Jackman, working with a filmmaker who helped guide him to one of his best performances, makes good on the potential he's displayed but that's lain dormant for a little while. And the character of Wolverine gets the stand-alone project he deserves.

I've been burned. We all have. But you gotta have faith, and with these elements (not to mention a screenplay by the reliable Christopher McQuarrie) I'm ready to believe it'll all work out for the best.

Just keep the following people the fuck out of the process: (1) Skip Woods. (2) Tom Rothman. (Okay, that second one's gonna be difficult.)

Whatever happened to DA directing Flicker? That project sounded utterly bonkers!

I'm still hoping he'll do Preacher. I should go add that....

An Aranofsky Preacher would be orf the fookin CHAIN!
I was just rereading my Preacher books last night. That would work for me. Like many here I'm over Wolverine. He's too established at this point (if they don't do a full on reboot, which is the only way I'd be interested in this Aronofsky or no) but to have this director with THAT property...well, yes. Sign me up. Of course that will never happen, but a man can dream. A woman too!

I wonder if the reason he keeps wanting to do such large scale, big budget genre films is because he's trying to build up studio goodwill/funding for his epic Biblical movie he's always been wanting to do.

I'm with tommy five-tone here. If he can deliver a good story it would be great. Also, Hugh can't keep gaining weight for this role for a long time.

ETA: I have the same impression than Zollicoffer, He building up something huge.

No thanks. I'd rather see Aronofsky do something interesting and original. Plus, does anyone really think that he'd be given free reign on a project like this? There would be nothing but meddling from the studio, as this is one of their big tentpole franchises, and we'd be lucky if any of Aronofsky's vision showed up in the finished project.

Seriously, this well has run dry, and Aronofsky should stay as far away from it as possible.

I hope Fox is showing some signs of reason with this and hiring Vaughn to do X-Men First Class. Somehow I've got the impression that Vaughn is a guy you don't fuck with.

Pretty much this. Well put.

Hopefully Fox learned a lesson from the troubled production of the first one and the shitpile result. They have to realize that the franchise is dead if they make another movie like that.

Maybe they'll scale back, ease up with the meddling and let the talent do their thing. I don't think Aronofsky will sign on if he thinks there will be a lot of interference, so I'll be excited if this actually happens.

If...Darren Aronofski directs...Wolverine 2, it will be the first film of his that I will see. I hope that...Wolverine 2 gets a green light, so that even more superhero films will arrive in 2012. I would love to see either or both of...The Silver Samurai and Psylocke in Japan, with of course a couple hundred...Hand Ninja!

I couldn't care less about the Wolverine and X-Men film franchise, until now. Aronofsky and Jackman in medieval Japan, hopefully in a more zen The Fountain-like mode? Where the fuck do I sign up?

As long as Fox doesn't meddle too much this could really be something special.

This will be better than the previous Wolverine flick. I like Darren and will see anything he directs. I am very interested in this film.

I say let the man do what he wants. He has already mad a plethora of fantastic films that will be remembered for a very long time, so why is it bad to let him have a bit of fun on a project like this? The fucker is still really young, he has all the time in the world to make more masterpieces. Let him have a good time by going out of his comfort zone and trying to bring something unique to the superhero genre. He has gone from drug dramas to spiritual sc-fi to down-on-his-luck underdog stories to straight up psychological horror. This would simply be him trying his hand at a new genre. Sure, I'd love for him to be working on his once-planned adaptation of Serena, but right now trying out a tent-pole picture is what interests him, so let him have at it. Plus, if the film makes money (which it will), it will simply give Darren more clout in the industry, possibly allowing him to make a big-budget risky passion project or something of the like. Anyways, I'm definitely on board if Aronofsky ends up signing on. At least Jackman will be able to get back on track performance-wise with Darren's guidance. I'm excited to see what he does with this.

The first Wolverine movie was mediocre, and even Jackman's charisma couldn't save it, nor the first big-screen appearance of our favorite Cajun mutant, Gambit. I think it'd be intriguing if Aronofsky can direct the sequel, and gives it the creative shot-in-the-arm the franchise sorely needs. Besides, having Wolverine in Japan battling ninjas can already put the butts in the seats, so the addition of Aronofsky is just to make sure the movie will actually turn out to be good.

I say he waits till Swan fully hits then he goes after something even bigger like mentioned above Dune, hell in a perfect world he would be able to take Foundation from Emmrich.
