The ridiculous niceness of Johnny Depp

Is there anything bad to say about this guy, other than he needs to learn to tell Tim Burton "no?"

Yeah, he's a doll. His daughter got really sick during filming of Sweeney Todd and had to be hospitalized. Johnny was so grateful to the hospital for taking such good care of her that he went to the hospital dressed as Captain Jack and read to sick kids for a few hours. Didn't publicize it or anything (a hospital employee told someone about it after the fact), just did it to say thanks.

And yeah, he does need to start saying hell no to Burton.

He's an incredibly classy guy. That's a great little story.

So desperate for attention.

Does Depp need the attention at this point in his career by staging publicity stunts? Despite his reputation for portraying rather flamboyant characters throughout his collaborations with Tim Burton, he strikes me as a mostly private person, from his choice of residence to his interactions with the press. I suppose it's just hard for people to accept that he's a genuinely nice person who was filming in the area and decided to do something nice for a local kid.

Comedy jokes!

When they were filming part 2 or 3 off the coast of San Diego some friends of mine talked themselves into the staging area where cast members would prepare to go out on a boat to film the water scenes, and where they would gather after the day of shooting. When the cast and crew came back at the end of the day, my friends took pictures with some of the lesser pirates. A few hours later Depp showed up, he was on the other side of a chain link fence and my friends stopped him and asked him to pose for a picture. They showed it to me, and the poor guy looks dog tired. He's being a good sport, smiling and being friendly, but you can just tell how exhausted he is. I thought that reflected pretty well on him (and not so great on my friends) when I saw it.

Between this, the hospital thing and telling Angelina to f-off during filming of The Tourist, gotta love the guy.

I dunno why, but this response made me giggle more than it probably should have.

Also - I don't know if there's a specific incident that's being mentioned, but yeah - word 'round the campfire is that Depp and Jolie reeeeally don't like each other and shit is usually kinda tense on set.

Probably because I stole the phrase from Steve Martin.

One scene from Public Enemies was filmed at Indiana Dunes state park. A friend of mine tipped me off about the filming, so I ran up there and watched. After an all night shoot, completely exhausted, and obviously just wanting to go to bed, he walked up the beach to where all us crazy fans were.

He posed for pictures, signed autographs, listened to stories and was the picture of graciousness. The man spent a couple hours being the nicest person in the world to a bunch of over caffinated goofs who had stood out in the cold all night just to get a glimps of him.

Very talented and a really nice guys. Unusual combination.

Oh, just word on the street was that Angelina came onto Depp pretty hard while filming The Tourist, kind of like her and Pitt on Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Depp essentially told her to take a hike. Probably the only man in the world who could resist her.

I'm all for some gossip, but this really sounds made-up.

But after he kicked Angelina Jolie to the curb, he spent hours posing for pictures with her, teaching her kids how to read, and removing any of Angelina's tattoos that were painful reminders of her relationship with Billy Bob Thornton.

You know, I don't think of myself as a cynic, and I say this based on nothing, but I can't shake the idea that unbeknownst to the public, Johnny Depp is secretly a huge cunt.

Like he has a gimp he just beats the hell out of when he gets home?

You don't ever want to fuck with the Depp. Ever. I once saw him punch an old lady in the mouth. Just because he could.

I think so, like an anthropomorphic stress ball or something. That's what keeps him all relaxed and whatnot. It's a good theory, someone should investigate.

Why do you think those kids in Harley's story were at the hospital in the first place? HE GAVE THEM ALL CANCER!

Ha!

Someone filmed the school mutiny.

So what, he paid all their hospital bills!

He really does seem like an amazingly nice person.

Looks like someone's gunning for Keanu's throne.

Have you seen Angelina lately? She's not only easy to resist, she's hard to literally notice.

Someone get that girl a cheeseburger for Xmas.

I know seriously. She looksed absolutely gross in Wanted she was so skinny.

We should all send her Jack n the Box gift cards. Nothing like a few mayonaise sandwiches garnished with a chicken patty to fatten that bitch up.

What's the buzz on THE TOURIST, anyway? Probably not good, right? Something about the trailer made me want to see it though.

It is impossible not to like this man, fair play to him for being such a good sport.
