Sure, it's just that this is coming on the heels of the thing with the foot ball reporter a few weeks ago, where people were saying that you can't expect them to behave civilly because they are payed millions of dollars to play a violent sports game.

I've never been with an older man, so forgive me if this is wrong, but shouldn't a gray-haired man have at least some gray pubes? That, along with the fact that there are no full-frontal shots including his face, lead me to believe that this is a hoax.

The NFL doesn't have a sexual harassment policy? Most places, if you harass a co-worker, you're shitcanned. End of story. I sort of suspect everyone is gonna be shocked when the punishment comes down. People seem to be making comparisons to the Rapistburger thing, but there's really two different situations. This is in-house, and there's evidence.

I am very interested in seeing what, if any, punishment comes of this. The NFL loves touting this guy. ESPN blows their load whenever he plays. Will this cause Goodell to go harder or easier on him? Will this matter at all? I know it shouldn't, but I think it will.

You know, I don't know anything about Brett Favre or the game which he plays, but the very first thing I thought when I saw those pictures was if I was the kind of fuckhead that would do that shit, I would at least wait until I was hard. Also, what happened to just walking up to a girl and saying hello? Are we such slaves to technology? It probably would have been far less trouble and maybe he would have gotten somewhere, the douche.

Interesting cultural note on this story:

A couple of weeks back, I was on the elliptical at the fitness center. iPod on, but the TV in the room was also on, with the sound turned off. The news (MSNBC, I think, but it might have been CNN) ran a story on this....and during the entire 2-3 minute piece, never showed Favre's face once. In fact, the only shot of him at all was in full uniform, face obscured by his helmet. They showed various shots of the woman he harassed - clear, lingering shots on her.

I wouldn't have noticed, I think, had I not been watching without the set's sound on. But it seemed to be a very deliberate and, IMNSHO, sexist editing choice to focus on the woman rather than the guy who had been doing the harassing.

What irks me about the fine is the wording behind it. He wasn't fined for actual harassment, but for failure to cooperate with the investigation. It reeks of the NFL trying to look proactive while covering their golden boy's ass.

Its no different from what the NBA did with Jordan, or MLB has done with Babe Ruth's legacy. Iconic sports figures are no different than politicians or celebrities: they tend to be treated differently than us mere mortals.

It strikes me that the NFL has no particular reason to protect Favre at this point. The streak is over. His career is, most likely, over. His image has been more than tarnished, it's become something of a national joke.

Could it be that, perhaps, the NFL just doesn't have enough evidence that this was an actual case of harassment? And that, barring Sterger and her lawyer taking this to a court of law, they'd rather just wash their hands of the whole thing before the playoffs start?

Just playing devil's advocate here. In all honesty I have not paid a ton of attention to the details.
