You won't find any hints at whatever offended the MPAA so much.

Not to judge the movie beforehand, but serious filmmakers, American and European, routinely irritate me by depicting sex as this dark, hideous, draining thing that's about as alluring as digging graves at Auschwitz. It's such a tired element of the culture.

It's about a dying marriage. I assume shitty sex is kind of a thing.

I have no doubt that it's appropriate to the story, that's not my issue, it's the prevalence of a certain depiction of sex in Western cinema.

Having read and heard a lot of complaints about the American rating system, I must say I prefer the one in my country (Sweden):

B: Suitable for all audiences
7: Children aged below seven must be accompanied by an adult.
11: Suitable for children aged 11 and above; children aged seven or over may be admitted with an adult. Here you usually find the films rated PG13 and every now and then, an R-rated feature. Predators was rated 11 here, for example.
15: No one under 15 admitted. Most R-rated films get this rating, as well as those rated NC17. There were some huge headlines and a lot of crying from young fans when Twilight was rated 15, but the decision was changed to 11 before release.

Overall, the impression I get is that the Swedish board of film censors is more forgiving when it comes to profanities and nudity - I've heard plenty of cursing and seen dicks, tits and ass in films rated 11 - it's usually violence and explicit sex scenes that make for a 15 rating. Cussing's no big deal, you get that even on children's shows nowadays.

Wait, so violence and stuff usually earns a 15, but TWILIGHT features none of this (or explicit sex, language, tits dick or ass) and was originally a 15 while Predators was 11?

Sounds like the ratings system is broken everywhere still

Yeah, sometimes they just seem to toss a dice or whatever. I have no idea why they wanted to rate Twilight 15, perhaps they wanted as few people as possible to see the thing. I did a quick google search and found their reasons for handing out the rating (doing a quick translation here):

"Vampires physically abuse and torture a woman, plenty of violent beatings, woman pulls a shard of mirror out of her leg, vampire is put on fire."

Also, I remembered it a bit incorrectly - Twilight was released with a 15-rating. They changed the rating to 11 for New Moon and Eclipse. Makes total sense...

Agreed. Sex is almost never portrayed as healthy or normal in cinema these days.
