The Potter series will be 3D one way or another.

As ever, as long as the beautiful 2D versions are readily available, I don't care what they do with the 3D conversions.

From the headline, I assumed you were just talking about Deathly Hallows Part I. But for all of the movies, eh? I feel like Chris Columbus' static camera would work best with 3D. Hehehe.

Actually, I found Order of the Phoenix's 3D parts to be pretty stunning and kinetic.

The scenes were stunning and kinetic for sure, the 3D was shuttering, smeared bull's shit.

I though the 3D was fine. We've come to an impasse.

I found it annoying that I paid more money to wear 3D glasses for 15 minutes only to hold them in my hand for the rest of the time.

The 3D for the opening 15 minutes of The Half Blood Prince was ok, I guess. Nothing that rocked my world. I didn't really like the 3D for Order of the Phoenix. It had too much of a 3D Viewfinder's idea of 3D.

I am not certain, but wasn't the price of the Harry Potter IMAX movie with 3d scenes just the regular IMAX price, not an inflated 3D surcharge?

I also think the 3D in the last 2 Potter films was well above average for what post conversion 3D is. I remember when Order came out, I actually saw the regular release and Imax release back to back and the 3D battle at the end was indeed really really awesome.

Still not happy with "conversion", but good to know that WB recognized the imperative to get these films in some sort of "3D" format in order to insure the future value of the HP film catalog

Oh Kate.

I think the value of the HP franchise will be just fine without the 3D revolution. It would be just fine without the movies too, I think.

Analano, I think you might be right about the ticket price of the Potter IMAX3D tickets.

Of course they'll have value but my point was that 5 years from now when 3D HD TVS are becoming the norm for upper class folks (and 10 years from now when most people have them), it's going to be important for WB to be able to offer the HP movies in that format is all

I see. That makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying.

But it is not like the 3D TVS are 3D exclusive... a 3D TV will still play mostly 2D programing in stunning HD clarity... I don't think WB will suffer from having the HP movies in standard 2D forms, in fact if they do go for a full on conversion of the whole series it will still only serve as an ancillary way to view the films, not the definitive way.
