ZACK SNYDER SAYS NO ONE WILL BE DOING ANY KNEELING BEFORE ZOD

So many outright lies get told to the press these days that with the "for now" qualifier, I am not going to look at this as any sort of legitimate denial

Also.... ROME! You gave a shout out to ROME in your article and I think that's awesome. I see Snyder as Antony minus the charisma, and with the loutishness turned up to 11. Nolan of course would be Caesar Augustus... and as for Mr Goyer? He gets Africa!

Doesn't quite seem like an outright denial to me, as Kate said.

Hope Snyder does well on this, though. Truth be told, I'm somewhat more interested in his style as a director than Nolan's when it comes to adapting these properties, but I think their fusion could produce some interesting results, to say the least.

I hope Zod is out from this. Good article.

I want Braniac, not Zod. And no Lex Luthor in the next Superman, he's been done to death.

Of course, you can't mention Brainiac and not mention Kevin Smith's spiderless script. My problem with Superman films is that Luthor isn't bad-ass enough to be true villain, which means Superman has jack to do. Until we do President Luthor, I want another villain.

It seems you need Luthor there as an enabler. Getting guys to fight Superman or whatever. Kind of a background agent ... like SPECTRE for Bond. Eventually he can be a decent new villain if you do Luthor as president. I think you might want to see how Green Lantern and the Marvel movies do before you start adding uber-powerful enemies from alternate dimensions.

And given Nolan's producing role, you have to imagine it might be slightly more 'realistic' (unless he's sick of that from Batman).

How do you do a realistic Supes? Remove his origin and powers? Or just tone down the color/suit and make all his threats Earthbound?

Well, Metropolis is a different city, the light to Gotham's dark. Superman has to keep that color, even thematically. What ever villain he fights has to be threatening to blot out the light. It cannot look like Gotham, even in color spectrum. Maybe a villain like Mr. Glass, some terrorist who is trying to destroy the morale of Metropolis by showing that Superman isn't all the super.

On rereading this, I sound ridiculous, but, eh.

Don't know anything about how Hollywood works from the inside, but the fact that it puts out such a reactionary impression of itself is really kind of sad.

Well, that "superhero in space movie" didn't work, no more "superhero in space movies" for 5 years.
