I just watched this and loved it. I think I liked it even a bit more than Nick. I wasn't bothered by the shifting tone*, I thought it was handled about as well as it could be, but I do agree about being in favor of just ditching the drug/murder aspect of the story and focusing solely on the family dynamic. With such fun and interesting characters, I think that absolutely could have worked.

Norton deserves an Best Actor Oscar nod for this.


* In that respect in kind of reminds me of In Bruges, another movie I discovered thanks to CHUD, and enjoyed quite a bit.
