Ed, I'm going all out. I don't want to attach rhinestones to my leather jacket, but I plan to have my hair coiffed and fingerless leather gloves. I've already gotten cheap huge sunglasses and ordered a custom shirt that says DICE like he used to wear, and though I don't smoke will try to have a (unlit) cigarette in my mouth as much as possible.

Only problem is I trimmed my sideburns too close last night trying to make them less scraggly. But I should have them back in good form for next Friday when I wear the costume to the party I'm going to.

And trust me, there will be pictures of me in Diceman gear, and I'll be saying "OHHHHHHHH" a lot. I'd love to have a friend dress up as Lt. Amos but I don't think I can convince anyone to do something that obscure.

I've been using the Google to try to find the right kind of dye but to no avail. I'm going as Daniel Plainview in the final scene of There Will Be Blood... I've got my mustache (which I'm a little worried isn't quite large enough), and I'm going to go with the unshaven look he sports in that scene, but I want some dye that will allow me to create the same salt and pepper look on his scruff.

Anyone know where I can find some decent hair dye for this purpose?

You're going to carry around a milkshake with like 9 straws taped together coming out of it, right?

I went to Halloween Horrors Night at Universal Studios yesterday. I don't understand why any of that scares people. The 90 minute lines to walk through a 40 second lame "maze" scare me more.

I've been to a few genuinely creepy haunted houses before. When I was 9 or so, I attended at a masonic lodge one year was absolutely terrifying. It was a grand 19th century mansion with ball rooms and marble lined halls, and there were disemboweled people all over the floor trying to push their guts back in and stuff! It was definitely pretty twisted and my mom said she regretted taking me
post #56 of 109
Some friends and I hit up this place a few weeks back:

It's an actual abandoned asylum that has been transformed into a haunted house attraction. It was unfortunately terribly unworth the price.

I'm a man in need. Since I can't afford a new batch of contact lenses at the moment I'm forced to find a costume that includes glasses, and so far I've got nothing. I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions. For the record, I refuse to do Clark Kent, I did the Tenth Doctor two years ago, and while Dr. Herbert West is something I'd enjoy, I don't know how to make it recognizably him.
Fill a plastic syringe with bright green fruit juice (Hawaiian Punch has a green flavor). Put that in the pocket of your lab coat, splatter the coat sparingly with some fake blood (or real blood, if your prefer) and you got Herbert West. Even people unfamiliar with the film will understand that you're some kind of mad scientist doctor.

I'm working through the weekend and won't get to dress as anything for any Halloween parties. I took my frustration out on the front of my house (and the neighbors):

The guy across the street has a neon Phillies sign in his window. Suck it, guy!

You own the thread, Phil. And congrats again for the documentary.
That's ominous and terrifying and AWESOME.
So great.

Thanks y'all. It's just orange string lights, a mask and a blue lightbulb but less is more and all that.

I don't remember where she posted them, but Kate had done some insanely cool jack o' lanterns (the image in post 1 is one of them). She should put them up in this thread.

First off, the guy in the window is spectacularly creepy. Good work there, that's genuinely cool

As for the pumpkin shots you mentioned, I'd be more than happy to share them!

Unfortunately I only have photos of my Jack-O-Lantern from last year, which is what I think you're talking about. I have no shots of pumpkins from years past. I'll be sure to take a shot of this years pumpkin though and put it up when it comes time. I am not sure if I should go with my current model for an over wide grin, or change it up and try something else. We'll have to see

In the mean time, here are those photos:

The New Bev is screening the original "The Wolfman" and the original "The Invisible Man," so I think I might check those out. I had a blast at their triple bill of "Night of the Demons," "Demons" and "Demons 2" last year.

Patrick and I carved pumpkins with some friends a few weekends ago. Here are the results:

We have a costume party in my office every Halloween. As expected, no one knows who I'm supposed to be. I'm okay with this.

Uh oh... the Halloween candy bowl just got put out at my job.

It's full of mini TWIX, SNICKERS and REESES PEANUT BUTTER CUPS.. I wish I didn't have this temptation. I normally don't eat much candy at all in my life, and while I enjoy indulging on Halloween, I don't like having it around to lure me during the run up

Last year I started a candy consumption mini blog on my UBP, partly in an effort to use public shame to deter myself from eating too much free candy at work

I think I'll do the same thing this year, editing this post here in THE OFFICIAL THREAD OF HALLOWEEN 2010 as needed.

To start:

I've eaten one mini TWIX already this morning, at 10 32 AM

I just at a RPBCup, 11 48 AM

What was it? Was it difficult to figure out or were they just being obtuse about it?

I'll post some pics a bit later, my dear Princess. I have a feeling everyone here will be familiar with it, but, nah, I would have been shocked if any of my office mates got it.

From the Philly newspaper: "Area Filmmaker Arrested for Stealing Original Michael Myers Mask."

Kudos, sir. Also, there are some awesome pumpkins in this thread.

I am SO excited for halloween. Its my favourite holiday (I know it's not one, officially, but I don't celebrate Christmas so I think I should be allowed to count it :P). I'm having a house party (bout 20 people coming to my flat which will be a bit of a squeeze haha) and then we're going out in town on the night I know a few people are dressing up but a lot of people are shitty and don't want to. People who've got me added on FB will see pics of my costume after Sunday

Tell it to the cleaning lady on Monday.
I approve.

Just tell me you've got a bass or a neverending cup of gelato to go with that.

Monday?
Because... because you'll be dust on Monday.
Extra points if you were combing your hair constantly through the night.

Won best overall costume (2 years running) at my huge work Halloweenapalooza! I got a copy of POLTERGEIST (already own it), popcorn, and bloody Mary mix and vodka.

Mattioli,

You look much different than I'd pictured you, for some reason I thought maybe that was you in your AVATAR. I assume your costume is from SPVTW? I have not seen that movie but that is my guess. Anyway, good work!
Just started getting on my Diceman getup. Since some of my sideburns got shaved off (to my dismay) I've darkened them with one of those makeup crayons and drew mutton chops, have my hair perfectly stiffed up and sprayed, black jeans, black shirt, a gold chain, a shirt that says DICE that I ordered on Custom Ink, leather gloves that I cut the fingers and insulation out of, and my leather jacket.

It's gonna be Booty Time across the USA tonight for sure.

My best friend from college is coming down from Maine for a visit tomorrow. We're going to stroll around downtown Salem, MA, and enjoy the freakshow.
I went to the dentist a few days ago and even though I quit soda over a year ago and started being much more militaristic about my oral hygiene, I have a shitload of cavities, so I need to be really careful about the candy. It's a real bummer coming at this time of the year.

I'm confident that my costume will either kick all kinds of ass and destroy faces with its greatness or it'll melt eyeballs with its awfulness, but either way I'll post the results here when the verdict is in.

Jesus, I'm British and I know who Andrew Dice Clay is.

Just applying some fake blood, some handprints, to a doctor's coat for tomorrow. Tempted to rip away at the sleeve and then hastily sew it back together, but it seems like a lot of work for something nobody would notice.

It's just counter intuitive, that's all. With all our modern latex injection molds and fancy costumes, I've rarely seen even one outfit that matches the creepy factor on display in that photo

Happy Halloween, Bwahahahahahahahahaaaa..

Happy Halloween, Bwahahahahahahahahaaaa...

I just woke up and I am moments away from sitting down to carve out a jack-o-lantern, photos of which I'll post later tonight. Then at 1pm EST I am traveling with my dad to a mountain where there exists a cave that stores the cryogenically frozen bodies of geniuses (or fiends?)

Have a great day, everyone

Just watching Shaun of the Dead and giving out candy to trick 'r treaters today, but here's a picture of me as Dexter Morgan from my party a few weeks ago.

Turns out the mountain was closed but I got photos of a spooky covered bridge at least. Just got home, and finished up my pumpkin. Not entirely happy with how it turned out this year (an understatement). My original vision was ruined by a few careless cuts of the knife. Oh well. I'm trying not to feel too depressed about it and I will put up a photo later tonight. Trick Or Treaters arrive in 22 minutes, and I'm over at my moms handing out candy

Well thank you! I have to admit I like how the photos turned out, which I'd not yet taken before I posted about my disappointment with the result

I put up an ALBUM with about 12 shots, in case anyone desires a more in depth look at my veggie augmentation art:

SPOILER TEXT FOR SELF CRITICISM: My original design was totally different, and I arrived at this incarnation only through extreme revision brought about by a need to correct giant horrible errors

The fact that in some photos you can tell certain teeth are not pointy is due to those teeth being very thin and having dried out over the course of the many hours it took me to make this.

Yes, the teeth are not attached to the head. This is due to the fact there were major problems with my execution of the previous design that could not be corrected and so there was no room to plan for the teeth you now see. I had to cut the mouth, and then use like 200 little tooth pick bits to attach the teeth

With all that said, I think it looks pretty creepy in these photos, and the low lighting and fire really help sell what I was going for with my 2KX PUMPKIN MARK 2 concept in the first place

I got several sincere compliments from various adults when different bands of TOTers showed up. It was flattering, and I couldn't help but do a little dance of joy when I knew for certain my pumpkin had managed to achieve it's intended effect: to unsettle and make people take notice

PS I carved half the thing in a moving car on a road trip, I get car sick very easily, VT roads are notoriously non linear and prolonged exposure to pumpkin stuff is more than a little nauseating. It was one of the least fun pumpkin projects I've embarked upon in recent memory
