Bradley Cooper for Darcy is exactly the kind of angle this film needs. I can only hope he attempts a Costnerian British accent

Hell, cast the whole thing like CHURCHILL: THE HOLLYWOOD YEARS

I almost think they should go after Keira Knightley for this. It would be a nice meta joke (a la Brando's The Freshman), and Keira would probably be game for it.

I still can't believe that this ridiculous piece of crap is being made.

I fully second this. It'd be a genius move, actually.

The book was bad. Like, really bad.

I skimmed the book at B&N a few months ago. A quick perusal of the 'Lady Catherine with her death ninjas' scene towards the end convinced me that this was an amateurish affair.

Fuck, bring back Joe Wright while we're at it. From the sounds of it, Wright is actually a very promising action director (with Hanna), so let him loose with a big budget and let the zombie heads roll.

Agreed 1000%. And I was very much in the "This is going to be great!" camp before it came out. I actually *pre-ordered* it, and was excited to sit down and read it. But it was a crushing disappointment. If the zombie stuff interspersed with the story were written by a competent storyteller...it could be a lot of fun. This was not the case.

On the plus side, I think the movie could possibly work. Largely because if you get a decent writer to have some fun with it, there's a lot of possibility there. If Elizabeth comes of as an intelligent but normal Victorian young woman who happens to have to fight zombies, the story could be fun. But in the book, she's presented as a hard-bitten warrior chick who has nothing but comic disdain for non-warriors.
