Simpson's porn gets you 10 years in prison, apparently

I think this is a fascinating topic for conversation.

Does porn involving Simpson's characters (I can only assume this means Bart and Lisa are involved, not those "harmless" looking Ned banging out Marge thumbs I see online occasionally) equal child porn?

Does that alone mean you need to be locked up and/or made to register as a sex offender?

Also food for thought: Fox themselves are able to repeatedly skate by on showing Bart's junk whenever they show the Simpsons Movie on FX.

It's just nice to see that the Australians are looking out for the Simpson kids' wellbeing even after the harrowing events of "Bart vs. Australia."

No, it doesn't equal child porn. That is insane. It's essentially punishing someone for their fantasies. Are movies and comics involving murder now snuff paraphernalia?

Repaired!

But yeah, this is a helluva leap. Kinda scary, actually.

Well played, Mr. Coombs.

How old is Judy Jetson? This is important.

The question there is probably more "What's the age of consent in the 25th century?"

Rosie's fair game though.

Teah this is pretty rediculous. Cartoon porn = child porn? I think not.

In a related story, Idaho has also just indicted the entire country of Japan.

Edit: That sucked

I sort of doubt anything is seriously going to happen with this, but it still seems uncomfortably close to thought policing. Where do you draw the line? If someone scribbles a drawing of underage cartoon characters having sex on a piece of paper could they now be arrested for creating child porn?

This is pretty fucking unsettling. I really hope there's more to this case than the Simpsons porn. Like actual child porn, for example.

I once drew a doodle of Mickey banging Minnie (or was it Donald?) when I was a teen. What does that constitute?

This is egregious.

My understanding is that yes, it is. The laws in the US say that illustrated images count as child porn

I think the question that needs to be asked regarding child pornography is the object of legal protection of the law in question. Obviously it is aimed at the physical and psychological integrity of minors.

To expand the scope onto the allusion of sexual acts committed by/against minors does in no way faciliate that aim. Furthermore one could argue that this interpretation does lend to serious collisions with freedom of expression.

I think this definition set up by the Council of Europe does achieve a more precise wording and boundaries of child pornography:
Quote:
Child pornography: pornographic material that visually depicts or represents a real child involved or engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including lascivious exhibition of the genitals or the pubic area of a child, or a real person appearing to be a child involved or engaged in such conduct, or realistic images of a non-existent child involved or engaged in such conduct.
And, if Wikipedia is a valid source, apparently the US law does constitute a similar restraint in U.S. Code Title 18 Section 225. But this is something an US lawyer might talk about with authority.

Well, Canandians better get any copies of Lolita out of the house.

Does that make school girl or chearleader outfits in role-play outlawed?

According to the Parent Television Council it does apparently.

I'm a terrible person, I just can't stop laughing at the fact that this guy lost his job because he had over 70 images depicting the Simpsons having sex on his computer.

I hope there was some "Itchy on Scratchy" action in there.

Yeah seriously. And am I right in assuming he wasn't even the one who drew these cartoons?

So they're trying to give this guy 10 years in prison for having some cartoons on his hard drive that he didn't even draw of some underage fictional characters banging each other? It isn't even like they are drawings based on real children, they are drawings of drawings. That's some meta ridiculousness.

While it may be pretty creepy for a middle school teacher to have Simpsons porn on his computer I don't understand why it would be illegal when no one was hurt and they're just fucking cartoons.

If this guy deserves to go to jail then so do half the people on deviantArt, when you make peoples fantasies illegal you open up a whole ugly can of worms.
