Scooby Doo & Cthuhlu/Scooby Doo Meets Harlan Ellison

Scooby Doo finally does Lovecraft and meets Harlan Ellison to boot.

Official Synopsis:

Quote:
Shrieking Madness: With Mystery Inc. broken up, the gang decides to check out life after High School and spend a weekend at DARROW COLLEGE. But things don’t go as planned when a creature called CHAR GAR GOTHAKON begins terrorizing the campus. Turns out this beast is a fictional character come to life. A creation of the author H.P. HATECRAFT who is a professor at the school. Although one of the other professors, HARLAN ELLISON, claims Hatecraft is a fraud, the creature is definitely real. And when it attacks and carries off Hatecraft to his doom, the gang realizes it has to come together once again to solve this mystery and save Hatecraft’s life.
I figure this puts us at one more step closer to a Scooby Doo Meets Hellboy cartoon.

This airs tonight on the Cartoon Network.

I was trying to wait to see if there was a CHUD story, but didn't want people to miss it.

Considering you got it to us and I acknowledged it much earlier in the day, it's all good.

Is up front now: http://chud.com/articles/articles/25...YOU/Page1.html

I'm already feeling ashamed and disappointed over watching this.

Yeah, my Catholic/CHUD guilt still is there Renn. But I know it has an earlier start time. Part of having a 6 year old (who might be for sale cheap today).

Hmmm, I wonder who is doing the voice of Hatecraft?

Wait, what? Harlan Ellison? The fuck? As in Harlan Ellison is guest-starring, or as in they named a professor after him? Because if it's the latter, that makes no fucking sense.

Also, I would expect to hear within the week that Ellison unleashed fifteen lawsuits on the makers of Scooby-Doo for using his name without his permission.

Ironic appreciation of unmitigated crap goes only so far, and Scooby-Doo crossed that line on day one.

I wouldn't say "unmitigated" - some of the "ghosts" were pretty neat concepts....other times, excessively stupid (I'm thinking stuff like "The Ghost of Hyde!" or "The Ghost of the Abominable Snowman!" - as if Mr Hyde and/or the Yeti aren't enough in and of themselves).

But these guys....

"It" (or Phantom Spaceman)

The Phantom Shadow

The Wax Phantom

...not so bad.

I heard about this, and had to check it out. It was cute. Cartoon Ellison going off on Shaggy about his use of the word "like" was inspired.

I haven't watched any other new Scooby Doos and I doubt I will ever watch one again (old school Scooby will always be a nostalgic essential though). They STILL do the whole "would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for those meddling kids" thing at the end of every episode, or was it just for this one?
