'SCREAM 4' TRAILER HAS MORE CAMEOS THAN KILLINGS

Despite very low expectations Ill see it just because Scream holds up so well. I've never understood the backlash to that film. It was suprisingly well written and acted and occasionally particuraly in fantastic opening sequence.

As long as this doesn't fall to Scream 3 levels that would be nice.

Pretty terrible trailer that doesn't make any sense. I think the two "film nerds" are going to annoy me.

When they're repeating jokes from the first SCARY MOVIE in an actual SCREAM movie, the snake isn't just eating its own tail anymore...it's on it third cycle.

Elisabeth, I'm 6 years older than you. Don't lament Scream being your generation's franchise. It could be worse. A few years younger, and it would be SAW or Final Destination. A few years earlier, and it could be A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, or Halloween, all of which have a worse batting average in terms of quality.

Unrelated:

1. Am I the only one who wants Matthew Lillard to be the bad guy in this one? Maybe wearing a SK8 TV t-shirt (remember your roots, Matt)

2. Roger Ebert said it would be great in one of these Scream films for the bad guy to just be some completely unrelated stranger. I concurr.

Balls, the video's down.

"The killer will want to film it. It's the logical next step."

Nothing about this trailer, or the rules, make any sense.

While I'm 100% confident the finished movie will be poor, I'm genuinely shocked by how leaden that teaser trailer is.

I have so little interest in watching this. Never understood the love the franchise got.

I can't believe they yanked that teaser trailer already. It's like they knew I had to make myself write it, and then punished me. Damn Weinsteins.

Didn't this happen in Scream 2?

It really sort of throws me how literally Scream 3 and (apparently) 4 take the rules. In 1 and 2, they're fun little things to play with. In 3, suddenly they're natural law and all reality will conform to them.

This times 100. Possibly the most overrated horror franchise ever.

Is it? Does anyone like any of the films besides the original? For the life of me I can't recall a single defense of Scream 2. Let alone 3.

EDIT: Except Dark Shape, possibly. But Dark Shape defends the Saw franchise. Dark Shape is operating on different levels of existence than the rest of us.

I think of it as a better, happier plane of existence. One where the makers of Disaster Movie enjoy their virgins.

I like Scream 2 and 3. But I very much admit to it being a nostalgic enjoyment. 'Specially 3.

Honestly, the only thing I hated about 2 was the Scooby Doo ending. The only 2 things I hated about 3 were the Scooby Doo ending and the pointless cameos. I think that how much someone dislikes 3 is usually directly proportionate to how much they love 1. So I suppose I'm a Part 2 defender that lives on a different plane of existence along with Dark Shape and 4/5ths of the Rotten Tomatoes critics.

I always loved how dark 2 is -- that's a movie that feels like it might just say 'fuck it' and kill every single character.

Shit, you're right, 80%. I didn't know Scream 2 was so well-received when it first came out.

And I thought the way it ended Sidney should have been the killer in the third movie. Be nice if they did it in the 4th. Based on the trailer it's doubtful.

Yeah. People can bitch about Saw and its ilk as they please, but Scream was hardly a critical pariah. Even Scream 3 did pretty well for a slasher.

Critically? It has 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. But it made money, if that's what you mean.

38% is sort of slasher movie heaven on Rotten Tomatoes, isn't it?

I'm still not sure what the cameos are?

If you have seen it, I don't know how you missed them but if you haven't and don't care about "spoiling" it, just go to imdb and check the cast list.
