DARREN ARONOFSKY SIGNS WITH A SNIKT - Page 2

Fuck it, Scorsese almost did Flashdance 2 so he could do Last Temptation, he offered in fact, so this is not some epic tragedy.

If filming is supposed to begin in early 2011, does Arofnosky really have time to do much with this? I'd assume that given the pretty intense pre-production schedule necessary for these kind of films that the timing is too tight for him to really make it 'his' movie too much.

same

i still think this is way beneath him, but it should net him around $20 million with his fee and gross participation and get whatever bug-fuck epic he wants made. and if he can do something interesting with it, should be a beauty mark and not a wart on his resume.

i'm most interested in finding out if Fox will let him bring on his regular crew (Matthew Libatique-DP, James Chinlund-Production Designer, Clint Mansell-Composer)...shouldn't be problem as they've all worked big budget shows.

Okay, I'll bite. Aronofsky directing the sequel to one of 2009's biggest catastrophes interest me. Maybe I'm a sucker. Sue me.

agracru, Disaster? Far from it. The disaster would be...Terminator Salvation. X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was one of the...Best films of, 2009!

ncie to have jackman and aronofsky reunited but let's not forget that fox ruined the first one and fox will ruin this one too.

Already wrote about this story and my reaction to it at length on this other thread, but for the sake of completeness I have to post here and say this is by far one of the worst developments to have taken place in the world of film in recent memory. Setting aside the question of 'should Aronofsky try to make a cool Wolverine film?' for the moment, I think the most pressing question is CAN Arononsky manage to make a worthwhile film with Rothman breathing down his neck?

I say no. The idea of a Aronofsky waiting his entire career to make a mainstream film only to choose to make the sequel to XMEN ORIGINS WOLVERINE is tragic enough. Worse would be the damage it could do to Aronofsky's career should XMOW2 turn out to be a piece of shit. I don't think FOX will give him creative freedom, and if they don't he might turn it into a public bridge burning fight

That would make his hiring on something like ROBOCOP that much less likely next time out, especially if XMOW2 ends up flopping (entirely possible given how tired and careworn the X series is at this point)

Ugh, I'm depressing myself just talking about it. Anyway, I'm going to shut up now but before I do I'm going to go ahead and call it: Aronofsky signing onto XMOW2 is the worst movie news of 2010

Take a chill pill. The FUD is crippling your ability to think clearly.

Princess Kate, I am of course...X-Tremely, X-Cited by the news of a...Wolverine Sequel. It is too bad that, Darren Aronofsky is directing, as there are better fits than him. To me, Ryuhei Kitamura, would have been...Perfect, for Logan's Run, in Japan!

I only speak for myself obviously, but I'd been hoping that he'd do ROBOCOP instead. I know you're a fan of XMO:W though and I certainly don't begrudge you your fun Mr Fleed. I'm glad you get a big budget sequel to a film you enjoyed!

That was the best part of the entire movie. Those five minutes stretched into a 90 minute film could have been interesting and would have made for a more legitimate "origins" experience.
