Another installment of LaBute's theater of hate. There's really no plot to speak of in this film, it's more a series of random conversations, Ben Stiller plays a pathetic douchebag, Jason Patric plays an alpha male douchebag, Aaron Eckhart is the closest thing to a human being in this film, Catherine Keener plays a closet lesbian, Amy Brenneman plays sexually unsatisfied woman and Nastassja Kinski plays a lesbian, her only connection being she interacts with every character one point in the film at the artist gallery.
Jason Patric is the strongest performer here, his confession about the gang rape in high school is the highlight and he also dropkicks a plastic fetus, classy. Ben Stiller is suitably weak and anal and his character is just plain pathetic.
It's clear LaBute can't decide who he hates more, men or women.
