A Rami helmed Triffids? Count me in. The recent BBC mini series was good but I know he can do better.

This is what? The billionth movie Raimi's name has been connected to?

Yeah, didn't you know? Raimi is directing every movie to be released in the next five years.

Again, another property I'd be thrilled to see him direct, but I have no fucking clue how he's going to fit it in his day planner.

This could be great. I can imagine the plant attacks looking like the Doc Ock operating room scene. Sweet.

I swear, I can't even express how happy I am that Raimi is no longer wasting his time on Spider-Man films.

I love Wyndham's book and I've never actually seen any of the film versions.

I'd be interested to see this. But, the basic story structure was already appropriated for 28 Days Later (and even that terrible new Resident Evil movie) and the idea of killer plants was employed to much ridicule by most audiences with The Happening.

So, I'm really wondering if this can work for people now.

This story did, however, make me want to revisit the book. It's just such a great pĂece of thriller writing that holds up. It deserves a good movie.

Love the book, but the idea of killer plants is hilarious, which is something Shyamalan never seemed to realise. I've got faith that Raimi knows this though and won't give it the po-faced treatment.

If only...

I just want him to get that OZ movie out of the way as quickly as possible and move on to this. Raimi is at his best when he's doing movies that he seems to really want to do, and TRIFFIDS seems like something he wants.

Plus, the killer plants in THE HAPPENING were boring passive toxin-releasing killjoys. The Triffids are like the plants that bullied Audrey II in alien topiary kindergarten.

Yeah, and that's why I think a straight adaptation of the novel would probably be a bad idea. The novel is aggressively solemn and serious, and I don't see Raimi going that route.

Basically, I want Tremors with plants with Raimi at the helm.

I'm pretty excited at the idea of Raimi tackling this. I'm still bummed he got pushed out of the Spider-man franchise (I weep for the Vulture we'll never get), but a return to Horror is obviously a geek blessing in disguise.

Obvious, but Raimi should bring on his A Simple Plan scribe Scott Smith to pen the project. He kind of has experience with killer plants...

Sounds cool, I just hope he resists the urge to make it campy. This more than anything is what hampers my enjoyment of Rami's films. IMHO something should either be serious, or campy. Mixing the two is a fatal combination, like ammonia and bleach. The silliness sabotages the audiences ability to take the serious material seriously

I think this was turned into an OUTER LIMITS episode at one point, and I recall I enjoyed that one. It gives me hope for this new film
