STEPHEN NORRINGTON WILL NO LONGER EAT CROW

I'm fine with THE CROW remake being DOA, but I wish Norrington would find a good confluence of script and studio. The first BLADE film showed so much promise, IMNSHO, and remains pretty great (dodgy CGI at the end notwithstanding). From what I understand, LEAGUE's problems were mostly studio-originated, not cast/crew.

Yeah, I don't think anyone save for a truly AAA director could get something good out of LOEG, if I'm to believe the stories about the production.

Yeah, I'm reluctant to put all the LoEG issues at Norrington's feet. Given Blade, I think he could have done it a fair amount of justice had the producion issues been avoided. Wasn't is some kind of War of the Roses style battle between him and Connery?

Hmmmm, I wasn't aware of any production problems with League, but it sure wouldn't surprise me given the mess that ended up on screen.
Well, I wasn't exactly clamoring for a Crow remake so I really couldn't care less if this remake happens or not.

God, this A-List asshole wants to rewrite a script by Nick *fucking* Cave? I really want to know who it is so I can personally drive to their house and give them a swift kick in the balls. Asshole...

Nice to see some chewers remember what happened with LOEG. Norrington dodged that bullet. Blade proved he was ready for the big time. This is sad news I think he could have made a good Crow revamp if anyone could.

I have life long respect and admiration for Mr Nortington after his BLADE achievement, and I hold no ill will over LXG. I feel like LXG squandered great potential (maybe my third favorite comic ever), but all the same I think it would be unfair to blame him for that. As others have stated, studio interference seemed to be the issue on that one. Having Ms Harker turn into a swarm of bats is hardly an idea I feel comfortable crediting him with.

Anyway, I've never seen CROW, but at this point I'm more interested in a stand alone Rufio film than I am in an emo avenger. I'm something of a Whalberg apologist, but I have no desire to see him in eyeliner sulking his way through a grim supernatural revenge tale.

Hope Norington moves onto a new project, and Whalberg finds a better way to occupy his time

EDIT: Not familiar with Nick Cave, so can't speak to Whalberg's desire to get his script rewritten

Not cast/crew oriented? Did everyone forget Sean Connery punched Norrington in the face during that shoot? Oh, and was so fed up with said Norrington that he quit acting?

LXG might have had a number of reasons for sucking, but I blame Norrington for robbing Connery from us. I mean, goddamn.

Greg.. from what I've heard, Connery is dealing with Alzheimers privately, and chose to bow out of the acting world for that reason. He's hardly appeared in public since LXG

Oh man, I completely forgot about that. Snipes does hint, in BLADE's commentary, that Norrington's not an easy-going guy.

Shrug. I'd still like to see the guy succeed.

Jesus, what kind of guy do you have to be when even Wesley Snipes thinks you're an asshole?

David Goyer.

If Connery has Alzheimers, then stem cell research better get more funding NOW!

Wow lot of ignorance in this thread.

For clarification Norrington has been called a mini Cameron. What happened on LOEG is this sets that were millions of dollars flooded in Prague that was the first huge problem and why the studio really jumped in.

Second Connery and Norrington did not get along and Connery along with Fox took the film from Stephen (much like Edward Norton did with American History X). This was all confirmed here on the site in a thread with producer Don Murphy years ago.

Connery had serious baggage at that time because he turned down two huge properties (The Matrix and he was offered Gandalf first by Peter Jackson) and in a really hilarious Today Show interview said he loved the LOEG comic and he didn't really understand it.

While Connery hasn't made a film since Norrington hasn't either.
