I haven't watched it, I'm sure it deserved all the hate it recieved, but that last screengrab is pretty badass.

Wah? That's Clancy Brown.

Is that weird alternate ending where Freddy is in a church wearing monks robes in the extras? That was the ending of the test screening I saw. Also, is the alternate party opening scene in there?

Great job Anderson I think you're beginning to be my favorite reviewer here.

It takes the place of Freddy dragging Nancy's mom through a door. The actual execution is profoundly fucking retarded.

Great as always, Anderson.

You know, thinking about this review, this film, after watching the Never Sleep Again documentary, even the worst entries in this series had some wild, imaginative, envelope pushing moments worth sticking around for. As bad as 2, 5, and Freddy's Dead are, I was never as bored with them as I was with this. That's really the part that makes this a waste. It's truly the first boring Elm Street film.

And God bless him, it's not like Jackie Earle Haley wasn't trying.

Never a big fan of the Nightmare series. But I'll admit that I found Jackie's version of Freddy less jokey and threatening.

The rest of the movie is the usual Platinum Dunes dreary shit though. The fact that Rooney Mara is in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake worries me as well. She is just meh in all this.

Totez. (as the cool girls say)

Reflecting back on my decade's worth of Platinum Dune's disappointments and periodic outright hatred, I think this might actually be the proportionately worst PD film - proportionate to just how far off target from the original they way. The film lacks any kind of spark. It is just dreary and creatively blah.

Great review, Troy.
