Super Meat Boy - Game Of The Year

I can't believe there's not a thread already for this stupendous game. The GOTY in the title might be an exaggeration....or maybe not. SMB is a fantastic new XBLA game(also PC and Wii soon), now on sale for 800 points until Nov 21(1200 afterwards).

If you like:
Boys - made of meat
Fun - Lots of it
Blood - buckets and buckets, plastered all over every surface by the end of a level
Excruciatingly difficult platformers that are insanely addictive and overstuffed with secret characters and bonus levels(307....plus many more free coming)
Then Super Meat Boy is for you.
Despite its difficulty, it has a reasonable learning curve, and you will be pulling off stunts and maneuvers you never thought your fingers were capable of.

Sorry this sounds like marketing. Download the demo if nothing else. You will love it.

The learning curve isn't too terrible. But, fuck if it doesn't throw some challenges your way.

Took me forever to get past the first boss.

I've been looking for a new Arcade game. The Shadow Complex was disappointing.

I'll try it out. But your credibility is on the line Sam.

The GOTY talk for it (Sam's not the only one) is a little odd to me, but it's very good, and totally worth $10. I'm on the fifth world and have only taken one or two frightened glances at the Dark World levels so far. Pretty much gave up on hunting for bandages and warps after two or three tries per level, and focusing on just plowing through the Light World levels.

I can only handle it in 20- or 30-minute installments though. You can actually feel your own personal rage meter filling up as you play.

Loving this, im already in the hellfire world, but the game keeps adding new, horrible ways to kill me.
Heck, i think ive killed Meatboy more times this week than ive killed Mario in all my life.

I also hope this game is recording a shit-ton of player metrics like Valve often does in their games. It would be great to see the average number of attempts in each level, how far players are generally getting, etc. I think this game proves the Law Of Diminishing Returns, in which your best chances at beating a video game level are in your first five tries. I'll almost beat a level on the second try, and then 50 attempts later am wondering how I even got that far in the first place.

Not in my experience. I'm beating levels in chapter 5 that I would've thought impossible after playing chapter 1. I have gotten consistently better. I got the Iron Boy achievement by beating ch 1 my first try! When I first saw it I scoffed.

Just a tip, running with left trigger has helped my hands tremendously.

Will I unlock The Kid before I kick my 360 across the room? Place your bets now!
