I was very excited to see the American Reunion movie. I saw American Pie just after college and remembered it was quite funny. Jim, Michelle, Oz, Heather, Stifler reunite for their high school...

I have yet to see Youth Without Youth and Tetro, but both are on my ever growing netflix queue. I just picked up the Apocalypse Now blu ray set and I have a feeling watching it will propel me finally watch some of the Coppola I haven't bothered with before. Besides his classic four films from the 70's I think I've only seen Godfather Part III and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Regarding this new film I think it's awesome that he's working with Val Kilmer. I love the guy, especially his recent turns in the aforementioned MacGruber and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, but also in stuff like Spartan and Willow. Especially Willow.

I respect Coppola. Lucas always talks about making smaller films and never does it whilst this guy does his own thing again. He doesn't fuck around. It's too bad Coppola's last big association seems to be Jack when The Rainmaker was a decent movie. Not great but relatively inoffensive with decent work but everyone involved.
I'd rather be remembered more recently for that film than fucking Jack. Youth Without Youth and Tetro don't interest me in the slightest and this probably won't either but the man gets a toast for what he's doing.

Kilmer is great, though that photo can't be recent, can it? All the same, cool to see him working with Copola. Not sure what's going on with Kilmer's career lately, but this could be a step in the right direction
EDIT: BTW, it's "Kunth", with a K.

I still haven't seen Youth Without Youth or Tetro (I really want to see Tetro especialy) but I quite love the fact that Coppola's just going out there and making whatever movies he feels like doing. The movies may not be perfect or masterpieces but the guy's acting like an artist again and I say good on him.
Funny how Coppola sat out the whole 90's indie boom knocking out half hearted director-for-hire guff, but now is putting his own little movies out there when hardly anyone else is.
