Sounds a lot like Pi but with cyborgs. Which is to say, COOL.

Wow, could we be seeing a real shift in direction for Aronofskys next few projects?

The man is nothing if not unpredictable.

I started reading the Machine Man serial, and the author, Max Berry, sure must like him some Chuck Palahniuk. There is the 1st person perspective, love of pain killers, and belief in transcendence through self-mutilation. Wait a minute, that sounds a lot like Aronofsky too. Anyway, the serial is a fun read and I'll probably buy it now. I really hope this becomes a movie with my man Darren at the helm.

If nothing else I'll just watch Tetso: The Iron Man over and over with screams and industrial music blasting my ears.

I was actually annoyed with the idea of him doing two superhero adaptations in a row until you revealed that the image was a joke, and then I did a 180. Perhaps there's still a vaguely superhero-ish quality to it, but the body modification angle sounds like something darker and with fertile ground psychologically, almost in a Cronenbergian New Flesh kind of way, or like TETSUO: THE IRON MAN. I actually get that more than ROBOCOP, although the potential for a more fun, action oriented film is certainly there. But a dark, weird sci-fi thriller approach would be a natural progression from BLACK SWAN.

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling a Japanese, cyberpunk, body horror blahblah blah from the premise alone but that could be reading too much into it.

Elisabeth Rappe, It is a shame, that Aronofsky, is not directing...Marvel's Machine Man, as it would be...10 times more interesting, than what he is following up, Wolverine 2, with.

I'm not trying to derail with what I'm about to ask, but I'm not sure this question warrants its own thread: What happened to the plans for the Jackie O biopic he was planning on casting Weisz in? I remember reading about it on CHUD only a few months back, & at the time it sounded like he was mapping it out for schedule post-BLACK SWAN. I check in here daily & haven't seen anything since.

sorry, end derail.

There just hasn't been anymore about it. I'm sure he'll be asked about it eventually -- between Wolverine and Black Swan, we should get a lot of ink. I'm curious myself, and suspect it's been shelved.

Natalie Portman needs another five years or so to be believable in the role.

Interesting, but I gotta agree with Fleed, a movie starring the asshole Machine Man from Nextwave would be excellent.

Fully agreed. But who knows with DA. The guy's full of surprises. One thing's for sure... the main character will be OBSESSED.

This sounds utterly fascinating. The guy can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned (though I'd still prefer that he avoid the Wolverine sequel, but whatever), and I'm really hoping that Black Swan continues the trend he established with his first four films. Machine Man sounds like it's right up his alley, and that premise alone has me excited to see what results.
