Haha, I just realized I responded to this article when it was posted in the Focused Film forum, and now that's gone.

I need to pick this up.

I played the hell out of the original 'Tropico'. It was actually a pretty challenging game, especially if you wanted to try for something other than a Communist agrarian commune. From what you describe it sounds like all of the challenge is still there but the humor and 'fun' quotient has been ramped up a few notches.

Enjoyable write-up, Steve. Keep tyrantin'.

My son loves these type of games, so I may pick this one up for him. And I'll consider naming my next pet "Birthdays".

I think chronicling the first two hours with a game is great idea. I've enjoyed every one so far, including this one.

Best column yet. This game does sound kind of wonderful. I guess now I'll be able to find out what would happen if Hemingway had conquered Cuba...

This game plays like Civilization's retarded brother that Sid Meier keeps in a rusty cage.

If you have a SDTV, avoid.

Asked a buddy for this for Christmas and basically the text is so small that it's unplayable on my television(32" SD). Oh well.
