That's not what that post was even about at all. Good job taking this entire thing out of context.

I was clearly (if any of you goons bothered to actually read shit before you post) talking about people who we trying to brand me a troll when I was merely defending my views on these films. Really. Yes you've all been tremendous assholes and I was only retaliating as anyone naturally would against the clearly ignorant who refuse to listen to reason. >.>

Sorry, I might not be the most likeable person, and truth be told I don't usually go out of my way to be so after someone is rude without a good reason, but I certainly have not sunk to the depths of personal name calling and harassment like some people here...

Please keep dog piling though without actually understanding what was going on here, why don't you, since you all seem to think it's okay to be as extremely childish as possible over opinions about a  fictional character in a movie.

FFS we were already past that as well until one particular asshole brought that shit up again. I even tried being diplomatic earlier in the thread, but nope, you guys seem to be fine with making complete asses of yourselves as long as no one else notices.

Benny, if that avatar is you, are you Eddie Kaye Thomas incognito, or do you just really look like him?

Ya that's me, it just picks an icon for you if you sign in with Facebook.

So to answer your other question, yes I actually really look like him. Not really a mark of pride but I've been stopped a few times because of this.

Everyone say goodbye to Benny. I asked him nicely to stop writing harassing troll posts. He responded by being an asshat and threatening to take his presence elsewhere. I respectfully helped him on his journey.

I feel dirty that I got a thumbs up from Benny.

For realz.

Or...upon seeing Catwoman..."I've got to get me some of that."

Aww, man, Benny has 5 kids to feed!

Who knows where that thumb's even been.

He looks like Eddie Kaye Thomas, apparently, so he still has that. Benny will be fine, I'm sure.

It'd be a better callback if Batman said it at some point. Maybe to prove his identity to Gordon during the hospital scene?

Saw some new footage on the MTV Movie Awards. I'm sure it will be online in no time.

Good preview.

What did they show?

The more I see of Bane, the more hopeful I am of a weird Hans Gruber/Lord Humungus/Bennett combo, and I love it.

The score for this one is going to be something special.

That piece of dialogue that older cop drops on the rookie is a lift from The Dark Knight Returns. Love it. Hathaway continues to come off as the perfect choice with each snippet. I may have excised superhero comics from my diet, but a sense of fanboy glee is definitely setting in.

Yep. Each new TV spot just makes this look better and better. The scope of the film looks to be really huge.

Sorta unrelated...rumors are putting the running time at 2:45. Let the bitching about "padding" begin!

Official Running Time seems to be out- 2hrs 45mins

The Dark Knight came in at 153, I didn't feel there was much padding to be had there.

Nick, I agree. I was just referencing a common criticism of the film when it came out.

Oh I know Michael, what I said came out wrong.. I agree with you. I've also heard a lot about padding, and I don't see it.  Were there parts that could be edited? sure.. but that's always the case in any movie.

Nolan appears to be trying to get 5 films worth of content into a trilogy during his run on Batman. Which I sort of enjoy. The Dark Knight felt like 2 whole films, running into each other, the new one will be much of the same.

DAT SCORE.

Great, just watched that footage.  Now I'm going to have to tell my co-workers that the bulge in my pants is just the pleats, an optical illusion.

Apparently there's going to be a bulge-explaining epidemic throughout today due to said footage. "Let the games begin!"

when that score hits after Bane goes "Let the games begin"..... I got goosebumps.  The ending too, with Bane walking towards Batman.  Hardy and those eyes, fucking badass.

I've settled into liking Bane's voice as a quasi Darth Vader homage.  It's really working for me.

"You are in for a show!"

There is going to be So. Much. tepid, extraneous character narration you guys!  I'm stoked!

He still won't beat Nicky Katt's amazing side commentary in The Dark Knight.

Hardy needs to do commentary for this film, with his Bane voice.

I am. Schedule's been rough past few weeks. Even my wife's seen it.

I KNOW Bale's probably irritated and ashamed (heck, Oldman may be too), but I like the crowd's enthusiasm.

MTV footage does look amazing, but I still can't understand Bane (nor in the TV spots either). I'm gonna need subtitles.

You may need to see an otolaryngologist, because aside from the prologue, I think everyone's been more or less able to perfectly able understand his dialogue.

Yeah, the prologue aside, his dialogue has been very clear. Jury's still out on whether it works in the context of the film, though.

His read of the 'Air-Cav' line is like nails on a chalkboard.

God MTV is so lame.

Watching the actors standing there so awkwardly, and blatantly reading Cue Cards (they really couldn't memorize those lines?!), I pictured thought bubbles above their heads reading "God MTV is so fucking lame!".

Yeah. And putting that story stuff into the context of this film series still doesn't really make sense.

Meaning?

Hold on, I'm combing through the thread trying to find my old post on the subject. It still applies.

EDIT: Fuck, this thread is long.

ADDENDUM: Okay, maybe I imagined posting this before. Anyhoo...

I don't think the whole "Holy shit Batman's coming back!" angle works at all in this universe. The Dark Knight Returns had Batman coming back after a decade's absence, which followed a decades-spanning crimefighting career. That's more than enough for you to feel that he's truly a legend to Gotham City. But in this film series, Batman is only active for, like, two years, tops, before going away for eight. With that context, I don't buy that anyone would say "Holy shit it's Batman!" rather than "Hey it's that one weird guy who did some stuff way back when, remember him?"

What I found weird and amusing was the stark difference between Bale's obvious distaste for the proceedings (and his subsequent and moving reaction to mentioning Ledger) and JGL's carnival barker mode. Oldman and Bale clearly hated the entire thing (and I'm guessing Nolan wasn't thrilled with it, either), but JGL was doing the hard sell.

Which I would think would make people worry when Nolan intros the clip by saying something to the effect of the audience in the room is who the film was made for.  But then again I am weirdly antagonistic to this film because I just don't get the love for TDK.

He's selling a movie, what's he supposed to say? "This whole thing is distasteful. You people are all fucking idiots and I don't want to be here, but here's the fucking clip anyway. Enjoy."

No, I get it, I do.  Just... ugh.

Hey, just find genuine shit to complain about and you won't be stuck making shit up to be down on. That's my peeve. I've even defended films that I don't especially like because someone was trashing it for reasons they pulled straight out of their ass.
