Even more samples of the Soundtrack. "Rise" is sad as shit and "On Thin Ice" will be an awesome track.

"We all know how you like to say 'I told you so'"

via Production Notes for TDKR

Quote:
Cardington also housed an even more imposing multi-leveled set: a hellish prison, which, apart from being beneath the ground, is a far cry from Bane’s lair. The prison is a rough-hewn labyrinth of stone cells in a vast abyss. The barred doors of the cells are unlocked because there is only one escape: an impossibly high vertical shaft leading to the surface. There were actually two shafts constructed at Cardington, the taller being 120 feet high.

Exteriors above the prison were filmed in Jodhpur, India, where the forbidding landscape added to the desolation.

Confirmation that this: Lazarus%20Pit%20in%20on%20India%20location%20for%20The%20Dark%20Knight%20Rises.jpg

is the top of the prison/well/shaft.

For the record, that's a fucking cool/scary sounding prison.  So awesome.

Especially if it's located out in fucking nowhere. So Wayne not only has to survive climbing the shaft but also the elements of the environment. How the fuck does he get back to Gotham?

For one thing, he's Batman.

Wait, how does the runtime confirm the return of Ra's?

Liam Neeson's among the listed cast in the BBFC entry -- though the big question is, did that list come straight from Warner Bros. themselves? Also, we have photos of Josh Pence in full "younger Neeson/Ra's" getup on the Jodhpur, India set, so we'll at least be seeing a flashback version of the character, if nothing else.

I think he was referring to the page he linked to in his sentence about runtime. The page has a cast list that includes Liam Nesson fairly close to the top of the cast. I don't think that confirms anything, though. He's been listed in the cast on IMDB for months.

Didn't Neeson already admit to having shot a cameo in this months ago? Unless that scene was cut he's definitely in it.

Uh, how does the running time "confirm" Ra's will be in the film?  Wasn't it already confirmed Neeson would at least have a flashback?

Yeah, that's what I was sorta wondering, there -- does that British Board of Film Classification cast-list represent the true, "final," official cast-list, or did it come from some other unofficial source (rather than the studio itself)?

Regarding Neeson:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

It was a poorly kept secret that Neeson showed up for a single day's filming. If I recall, he vacillated between claiming to know nothing to not being able to talk about it. It's widely thought/assumed the shooting was for a flashback featuring Ra's.

Gents, I'm assuming you're all from the States here.  If the BBFC says someone is in the film, that person is in the film.  The BBFC gives out the certificates that allow any movie (including porns) to be shown legally in the UK.  The BBFC has to watch every single film that is to be exhibitied from beginning to end (including the porn films) and they can and do censure films.  I highly doubt that they would put a bad cast list on their official website since we are talking about legal documents here.

Shakespeare or Batman? Embarrassingly I only got 24/30.

Perhaps Liam Neeson's cameo is a post-credits scene where he invites Joseph Gordon-Levitt to join the League of Shadows.

I know it's completely unlikely, but there are times Bane's voice sounds a little like Neeson to me.

Not that I agree with you, but I have flirted with the idea that Bane is Ra's Al Ghul's son, but if you consider Talia, then it all begins to feel a little bit Star Wars. Could be, though.

Taking a shot in the dark

- Bane was originally supposed to lead the League into Gotham under the command of Ra's

- Ra's discovers Bruce, and demotes Bane, leading to Bane being kicked out of the League

- Ra's is killed, and his daughter takes over as leader

- She brings back Bane to lead the men to Gotham

- Talia travels to Gotham under the name of Miranda Tate and becomes an exec at Wayne Ent.

- She is able to access confidential info, and supply the League with info on the Tumbler, etc...

- Selina Kyle is apart of the League, and is employed at Wayne Manor to spy on Bruce.

Selina Kyle isn't an actual part of the League. Joining things isn't her style. Working out a deal where she can be employed to do some dirty work in exchange for something? Much more likely. And much easier for her to have GUILT after Bane kicks Batman's ass, plus the whole being afraid when she realizes that she's in over her head.

That makes better sense.  A free lancer that was hired due to her abilities and knowledge of Gotham.

  • Bane was really dead the entire time.

I'm puzzled after reading the main page article on the new Batcave.

If I've understood the synopsis correctly, Bruce Wayne immediately hung up his cowl after the events of the The Dark Knight. Eight years has passed during which he has been effectively "retired". The arrival of Bane forces him back into being Batman, rather implying otherwise he would have stayed out of the picture.

Why would he build a replacement, highly advanced, Batcave? Was it built during the Dark Knight? Would he be able to claim the expense as a tax loss?

Maybe Wayne is hurting financially and the Batcave is metaphorically "underwater."

Well, I took it as it was being built during The Dark Knight.  I think the Batcave being complete, and housing his retired equipment is a cool idea.  It's there, but it's hidden and inactive, much like Batman himself.

Once he retired, what was he going to do with his stuff?  Burn it? Scrap it?  Donate it to Goodwill?

Yeah, remember all that was getting built while he relocated to the city during TDK.

It was under construction during the time of THE DARK KNIGHT. By the time Wayne realized he's "retired," it was already constructed and ready to go.

ETA: Oops. Late to the game. Sorry for the redundant post.

Potential light spoilery stuff about the set up of the film. Pretty much settles the debate upthread about when Bruce starts using the cane and whether he's been Batman over the eight years between the events of TDK and the current story of TDKR.

If you want most of the answers, Deadline has published the press notes. 49 pages of production notes and synopsis. Haven't read it and not going to post a link, but if you just gotta know if there's a Lazarus pit, the answers await.

As I understand it, that guy was looking at the lights. It was fucking distracting.

I've seen a couple of things early and for free this summer (seeing this on the 18th) but this might end up being the only popcorn deal I put down cash money for a second go around.

I'd like to think he goes down there from time to time, naked, clutching a bottle of JIm Beam and drunkenly re-enacting famous past confrontations.

If that's all Bruce Wayne did in the film and the entire plot is just some bullshit that never happened that he's telling Alfred about in a drunken, bitter, mid-life crisis stupor (ramblings that would repeatedly devolve into how he fucked Catwoman as if Alfred hadn't heard that part like a half dozen times before), I'd pay to see this movie three times in the same day for a week.

Ending with Caine in character from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels quietly closing the door on Bruce and walking out of Wayne Manor carrying wads of cash arm in arm with Hathaway dressed in her maid's outift.

Shit writes itself.

This pretty much convinces me that this is going to essentially be a Dark Knight Returns movie. I'll be shocked if it doesn't end the same way as that did.

It looks like Batman removed the space jockey corpse and spruced up the alien crash site on LV 426. I'm pretty sure the eggs are there in that pool of water.

I believe it's the:

The ball in the middle also looks like...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

What would become the earthquake machine to break the city.

It's the same thing. Only, it's been confirmed as a fusion reactor. Not an earthquake machine like previously thought.

It's still hilarious to me that they went for the "accidentally" looks like a cat thing with the goggles.  Lawls.

Get it? GET IT? She's a woman...who looks like a cat! Dollars and cents.

The defense of her costume is that she's wearing it in a film where a guy dresses up like a bat and wears a cape. Silly is as silly does.
