Is there anything else they need, Eileen? Clothes, books, diapers?

According to Shawn's Facebook updates this is the info on what is needed:

For the baby: He is wearing sizes 12-18 month clothes

‎For his wife Johanna: 14-16 pant, extra large shirt, 10 shoe

For Shawn: 38/34 pant, extra large sirt, 11 shoe

Shawn's sister was able to get them a home to stay in for a few weeks and so far he has not posted a mailing address for people to send things. From reading the posts at FB it appears there are quite a few friends/family of theirs that are pulling together with items.

Here's a news article about it that Shawn just posted:

That was my first thought. I would assume that since he's going on Facebook and staying in contact that all three are well.

I'll see if we have any more boy's clothes tucked away.
Shawn is good people. Will help out in any way that I can.
Holy shit, what a nightmare. I really hope he was insured.
Jesus Christ, Shawn. My best to you and your loved ones, and I'll send some money in two weeks when I'm not paying rent all on one check.
I won't be able to help out until December, but Shawn's on my list now. Best of luck to his family in the meantime.
I don't have much to spare... but next paycheck, I'm sending what I can.

Ohana means family.
In the meantime, sending good thoughts and prayers to you and yours, Starving Dog.
It's not much, but I coughed up what I could to help. Best wishes to you and your family.
Jesus. That's horrible. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I'm sending some money but as soon as someone lets me know an addy I've got kids clothes, toys etc, I can send.
Does Shawn have an Amazon Payments account I could transfer money to?
Hi everyone. Thanks to all of you that sent us help as well as those who sent well wishes. Things are crazy right now but we are healthy and the important thing we keep in mind is that no one was hurt and my son is ok. We might have found a place to live if we can come up with the deposit, so everything has helped tremendously. I sent Eileen my mailing address, as well, so she can let you guys know what is most important. We'll be spending the weekend digging through the rubble to find what we can maybe save.

Thank you again. This showing of generosity has floored me. I will be back when things calm down

if you need any baby clothes... I have a ton that my son has grown out of. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

Hey SD, I've got something in the works hopefully. I'll let you know if it comes to fruition. In the meantime, stay strong and good luck with everything.

Sent something your way Shawn. I hope it's helpful.
Care package coming your way.
Thank you so much for that guys. You are all incredible.
Hmmm, I don't know. I just checked Google earth and the house seems fine.

That being said, I'm gonna check with my sister-in-law and see what she has kid clothes-wise. I could send you my kids gently used clothes from when they were small, but, with the fire and all, I think the last thing your kid needs right now is to start cross dressing.
Some toys, books, DVDs etc.* are on their merry way. Thought you and yours could use some fun during a trying time.

*Would've sent clothes but pretty sure your little guy wouldn't enjoy lots of skirts and blouses.
Christ man you have my sympathies.

Hope you and yours are ok.

Just what the fuck is this supposed to mean?
I think he was just making a badly timed joke. Nothing malicious about it.

I certainly hope there was nothing more to it then just an unfunny joke.

We took my son to the doctor and they said, with the exception of some heavy breathing, he is ok. They told us to give him benedril nightly to help with his wheezing. I think a lot of it has to do with being outside so much during the fire. He seems to be coping well, being moved all over the place and all. I figure as long as we get him familiar stuff for his new room when we find a place, he will adapt.

I still can't wrap my mind around all the help we have gotten from everyone. This is going to become a major "Pay it Forward" situation for us. My wife is already talking about volunteering for the Red Cross after this.

Here is something amazing. I went into the attic where the fire was worst and found a covered tub up there. We pulled it down and opened it and it had all our family photos from my wife and my childhoods in it. The tub was burnt and discolored and in bad shape. Every picture in it was unharmed.

We both cried.

It's the little things right now...
So cool to hear that about your pictures.
Thank you to everyone. Thanks to a very generous Chewer, we were able to afford to get into a new rental place to live. And thanks to a number of you, we have been able to start getting some of the things we lost in the fire, such as kitchen stuff and - most importantly - clothes, toys and books for Ash.

Also, a couple of days ago two packages arrived and I am 99.9% sure they came from two of you. One of them included a book called "Good Night Gorilla" which we used to own and was Ash's favorite book. That was very unexpected and very cool.

I don't say it enough, but you guys kick ass.

As do I. I'm so sorry, S.D.

I also found it darkly humorous that one of the toys that was sent to us was a toy fire truck
post #38 of 51
Ha! on the toy fire truck. It's good to hear things are coming along.

Holy shit, I missed this. Pretty awesome.

And yeah, thanks to all of y'all who poured out for SD. You're good people.
Glad you're doing well, SD. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask.
Next time someone starts bitching about the boards, let's point to this.
Nice tale to tell of the boards.
Great to hear you and the family are bouncing back, SD.

From one extreme to the other

We wouldn't have the tree, much less the house we are living in now, if not for a lot of people, and the biggest one's came from this message board.

You know who you are and I thank you.

I like how the tree is gated off...
That is one beautiful tree Shawn. I'm glad things are looking up for you. Chewers are some generous folks.

Bow-tie lens flares!!!
Given my long-time lurking, I missed out on this awful event. I feel tremendously bad about this because we were also connected on Facebook and I don't remember reading anything about it there. If there's anything you still need, let me know. I am about the same waist size as you and have a couple of unused 38 waist pants/jeans laying around since my waist size went back up. I'd be happy to send them to you if you still need some.
Shawn, you should have received a paypal from something called Image Render.

Hope it helps, I hope you and your family can have the best possible holiday season under the circumstances.
thank you, you don't know how much that helped right now...
