Visually, it looks very solid. I'm only concerned that, like Disney's heavily promoted and visually interesting Alice in Wonderland, the story will be lacking. I'm hoping that the movie is at least two hours minimum...

I hope that clip was released to show us what was being cut from the movie.

Well, I suppose there has to be a scene to show them traveling to a very specific location in the story. Even if it is fairly uneventful, Olivia Wilde and the landscapes more than compensate...for me, at least. They could have released a more exciting clip, but at least it's a decent character introduction.

Olivia is such a great actress. We can get a sense of her driving skills because she shakes the steering wheel back and forth (even though the vehicle is going straight). Pure magic.

Any inside buzz on how this is doing, if there have been any screenings? 6 weeks away and you would think it would have been previewed by now.

Wow, Jared... you weren't kidding.

For a film that's being sold on its amazing visuals, I'm bugged by the fact that there is no sense of the lighting on their faces changing as they drive around. Sure, it's a virtual world. Meh. It just feels really flat.

See also Janet Leigh in Psycho.... annnd I'm going to get my ass kicked.

That clip is...Awesome! It is apparantly a very important scene, with laughter, and danger (mainly Olivia's...Wilde driving skills).

Well the first one was 96 minutes* of yawn, so it's fitting. I'm in this for the visuals, same as the first movie.

*Yeah, I looked it up.

Honestly, they do that in ever freaking movie. I don't know if it's a director choice or if people instinctually drive like they're in bumper cars when faced with a greenscreened car scene.

The micromovements that people make when driving on a straight stretch of road look nothing like that!

And ha, I guess inside computers with magical flying tanks and motorcycles that shoot out lasers from the rear, cars are still manual drive.

I think certain actors do it for the same reason they like to have a prop or a cigarette in their hand. It's more specific and looks like they're doing something.

I can already imagine the way I look when I drive a stretch of straight road. A dull lump with a back that is either too straight or too hunched. Hehehe. I'd probably to the same thing if I were an actor.

That scene feels like a boring crossbreeding of Batman Begins and Speed Racer.

I hope that part of...Tron's Legacy, is that there is a new high tech crime fighting series, ripping it off, ala Glen A. Larson's entertaining short lived series...Automan.

Episode29, Tron Legacy definitely looks like the...Best film with Jeff Bridges in, December! I...Loved the clip, and everything else about the...Nu Tron Film.

I'm not getting where the negativity comes from. It's a scene of two people riding in a car, introducing themselves. The movie may very well suck Reagan's nuts, but this scene is indicative of nothing.

You're right, stelios. But it still seems like a pretty bad clip to use to show off the movie.
Agreed.
Yeah, I get that the steer wheel thing is a common actor trope. Doesn't make it any less ridiculous here.
The comment thread for this article is already hilarious, with just 4 replies. But seriously, yeah, the steering wheel thing is ridiculous.
The steering isn't that bad. They're on rough-ish, sort of twisty roads, the steering wheel will be jittery. I'm not saying that it isn't exaggerated, but not to a point that it stands out too much. For further examples check out some WRC footage and see how the steering behaves even in straights.

That's what I was talking about... it makes no sense to me that the DRIVING THROUGH 90s ERA VIDEO GAME SCENERY* is what they're releasing to promote the movie.

*"But Jared, it IS a video game a-hurr-doo-doo!"

The point is that the clip was so yawn-worthy, this is the only thing that caught my attention.
