Well that's what I said. But early on, Thor was the one that seemed like a no-brainer--basically an urban fantasy epic based on Norse mythology. Seemed hard to screw up. Whereas Captain America was going to be set entirely during WWII, and as I never tire of saying, to me the WWII stuff is just a prologue to the far more interesting story of a WWII-era uber-patriotic superhero thrown forward to more ambiguous times. Furthermore, Cap seemed like it was going to be one gigantic, bloated prequel to The Avengers, and I feel pretty strongly that these movies have to stand on their own. But Cap's now looking pretty solid, and there are some worrisome reports coming out of Thor.

Hard to screw up? I can think of plenty of ways an urban fantasy epic could go south - and I'm not even sure what an urban fantasy epic is.

Oh? I'd be curious to read/hear them.

When I hear "urban fantasy epic" I immediately think of Masters of the Universe starring Dolph Lundgren or Beastmaster 2: Through The Portal of Time. Neither of those are any good.

ETA: That being said I'm actually looking forward to Thor, I feel like it's going to be great.

I hope that both, Thor and Captain America are...Great films. I want to see numerous, big budget...Marvel Superhero Sagas. I am more excited for...Thor.

LOL @ at the people accusing Evans of roiding. You people making those accusations clearly don't know anything about working out.

Evans has always been ripped, and with a couple months of intense workouts + the right diet, the body he has in the new pics is easily attainable for him without the use of roids.

Fantasy set in the present day. Of course they CAN screw it up (and may very well do so), but it seems pretty straightforward and has plenty of obvious dramatic potential, whereas Cap seems like a harder sell with a less obvious "hook" whether they get him right or not. Surprisingly, in both cases, they seem to be going for the more esoteric comic-book take on the characters and their stories, instead of streamlining them for a mass audience.

When the Comic-Con footage hit, there was a concern that a lot of the movie was going to be devoted to Thor tooling around Earth, not being able to use his hammer. Devin then said that he'd recieved a lot of indications that that was the case, and that the climax was looking to be a lot less epic than you would expect for a story involving viking gods.
