Fantasy set in the present day. Of course they CAN screw it up (and may very well do so), but it seems pretty straightforward and has plenty of obvious dramatic potential, whereas Cap seems like a harder sell with a less obvious "hook" whether they get him right or not. Surprisingly, in both cases, they seem to be going for the more esoteric comic-book take on the characters and their stories, instead of streamlining them for a mass audience.

When the Comic-Con footage hit, there was a concern that a lot of the movie was going to be devoted to Thor tooling around Earth, not being able to use his hammer. Devin then said that he'd recieved a lot of indications that that was the case, and that the climax was looking to be a lot less epic than you would expect for a story involving viking gods.
