The Rundown - One of the most underrated action films.

I could go on for hours and hours about the imperfect perfection that is this film.

But I'll leave it to you.

Apparently Walken refused to say the "Oompa Loompa" line towards the end as he had never seen Wonka and didnt know what it meant. Just sayin.

But yeah, I love this movie. Its a shame it didnt perform better.

This movie is pretty much the only reason people still root for The Rock to become a big movie star. He's so perfect in it.

Also, moved the thread to Films in Release or On Video.

yea, probably my favorite Rock action movie. lots of fun really

How exactly is it underrated? It's certainly got a following, more than most mid budget actioners, and is generally considered a decent to good film...

I really feel like it could have been a nice little tentpole franchise, too.

The movie equivalent of the Uncharted video games.

That said, its a really fun gem that evokes Romancing The Stone and (to a REALLY BASE extent) Raiders. Johnson and Seann William Scott's rapport is a serious force to be reckoned with, as well as Walken's faux-tough guy schtick.

And not to mention Ernie Reyes Jr.'s ridiculous backflips.

Its not underrated its considered one of the best action adventure romps of the last decade and rightfully so. Berg is a very talented filmmaker I hope he keeps rolling with Battleship.

Faster looks decent but The Rock really lost his action mojo after this film.

Yeah, Berg's talked about a sequel but nothing happening for a few years.

This is a perfectly enjoyable film with a charming lead performance. It's marred by goofiness and Mr Williams Scott*. It's fine, not bad, but I'd not call it under rated. I think if anything it's appropriately rated or perhaps even slightly over rated, and least among the cool folks on CHUD

*he is fine, I guess, but for me at least it was a big struggle not to hate him

Nice to see you Subotai. Berg is a very promising filmmaker and I know you agree you think he can navigate the big studio films and keep his integrity long term?
I think so. He's one of the few directors who can shoot action scenes well and he gets the big projects - but he still has time to do the personal stuff like Friday Night Lights and that Gretzky 30 for 30 flick.

I always confuse this film with the other one he did - Walkabout? But since someone mentioned Walken above, I guess this is the "That's a lot of cows" movie. It's pretty much the only thing I remember about this. That, and it stars Stifler from American Pie.

Damn sucks not having ESPN I need to see that 30 for 30 now.
Well, it's probably not in the top 5 of the 30 for 30 series, but it's worth watching IMO. Also catch Bill Simmons' archived podcast with Berg discussing that doc and other stuff.

"You got the moves, Kid. I'll give you that."

Yep, The Rundown's an absolute blast. I love me some Rosey D, Walken's having fun rather than phoning it in, Seann William Scott pulls his weight and Peter Berg adds some verve to proceedings. Oh, and The Rock will never have a star vehicle to match this.

Note to Sly Stallone: That's how you do an Arnie Cameo

"Go away monkey! Go away!" Love the flick, and Walken is at his scene chewing best. Also loved the pilot--when we saw the movie in the theater, my wife kept saying to me, "What did he say? They need subtitles just for him, because I can't understand a word he's saying."

Walken's "Tooth Fairy" monologue is classic. DESTROYS.

The only thing wrong with The Rundown was the lack of a Rosario Dawson nude scene.

I love the walk into the town. Such a great flick.

Plus, in the universe of The Rundown, Mississippi State won a national title in football.

You should all hunt down the Dinner for Five with Berg talking about this movie.

By the way, I was at the airport picking up an actress for our film, and Berg was coming in on the same flight. Really wanted to ask him to do something else with The Rock. I hear the Battleship sets are amazing and huge.
