NPR First Listen Exclusives

Every now and again NPR will pull some sick shit and upload a brand new album for instant streaming. The audio is usually playable about a week out from the official release date and it goes away after the album is available commercially. I like to hear stuff before it comes out and this offers me a great opportunity to hear new music.

The insane week was the release date of September 14th: they had 14 different albums streaming that week (including Superchunk, The Walkmen, and Justin Townes Earle).

Agalloch would most likely be one of my favorite bands if not for the absolutely awful vocals. The vocalist is bad even by Black Metal standards.
