I read New X-men when it came out, but missed some issues here and there. Recently I bought the Ultimate Collection recently and just blew through it.

I've been going back and forth trying to pick a favorite. Right now I'm leaning towards RIOT AT XAVIER'S. But I do love those Fantomex issues. Too bad about the art, though.

This series made me hate Igor Kordey. However, it's the only X-Men run worth reading in the last 15 years.

I don't really have a favorite arc. It's a collection of moments that come together for me, especially with Xorn. Such a shame that Quesada allowed all that work to be ruined.

Kordey is decent when he isn't rushing and inking his own work. Unfortunately, he was doing both of those things on NEW X-MEN.

As for Xorn/Magneto, I knew that wasn't going to last. Morrison just completely ANNIHILATED the Magneto character. That's Marvel's go-to X-Villain and I assumed they were going to undo it all eventually. I didn't think they were going to undo it almost immediately after Morrison left, though.

Morrison was basically doing a retread of his Doom Patrol work through a fan appreciation of the Claremont/Byrne run.

It worked. It's just that it's sad that even that is far too revolutionary for Marvel. It makes me wonder how much of Brubaker's work on Captain America is going to get fucked when Brubaker leaves or Quesada steps down.

Xorn plotline is just awesome.
There's some bad artwork as you guys mentioned but the plot always delivers.
Jean Cyclops and Emma had a great psychoanalysis stuff together.

Something that's great is how Fantomex is being resurrected (and used well!) by people like Fraction and Remender (he's doing the new x-force, aka the stabby x-men, right)? The man uses his floating spine as a spaceship!

I really don't know if they've done much with Fantomex since Morrison left, but I'm willing to try X-FORCE based on him being a member. I hope he's still pouring drinks on his head.

The character has a lot going for him. Multiple brains, a nervous system that flew out of his nose and became a giant flying saucer, a cool outfit, a french accent, guns, a fake blind mother....

He's basically a character you'd make up when you were five. "So he can fly...and shoot clams out of his mouth...has radioactive pants...is Australian..."

Fantomex is also showing up in Uncanny as Emma's go-to person to "disappear" people.
