He was also his usual amazing self as Emperor Doviculus, the sadomasochistic demon villain of Brutal Legend.

CONGO!

My favourite Tim Curry film is CLUE.

Also, I watched THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER yesterday and was disappointed at how little Curry we get. No idea why they even cast him in that one.

Echoing the CLUE love. Watching Curry constantly knock Michael McKean over never stops being hilarious. Also, everything that Madeline Kahn does.

They were running IT on Scifi a while back and good lord, Curry's the ONLY thing worth watching in that movie.

ETA: You've only got to watch the first minute to see McKean try to find a seat and then break a table, completely wordless and awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO17P...eature=related

Man, CLUE is so great. As a kid, I wore out my VHS copy of it. Curry steals the show, as expected

Wasn't Tim in that recent SyFy re-make of Alice in Wonderland?

Curry is so great in Congo. He does 'shifty scumbag' so well and his delivery, coupled with that ridiculous accent, makes every one of his lines such a hoot. It gets even better when hes playing off of Ernie Hudson or Delroy Lindo.

Even when he's doing paycheck gigs he's good value - ie Congo, and there's a moment in the Shadow where he's spinning around with a tommy gun giggling and drooling like an idiot that never fails to make me smile.

Watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit with my youngest last evening. Clicked over to IMDB as I watched just to check out the trivia on it. According to the site, Curry auditioned for the part of Judge Doom.

Tim Curry auditioned for the role of Judge Doom, but he gave a performance that Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Michael Eisner all found quite terrifying.
I would give good money to see this audition reel.

Weird thing about Curry. Even when he's actually bad, clearly showing up for a paycheck and not interested in any sort of prep or enthusiasm, he's still pretty good.

I got to see him in Spamalot on Broadway, and the man's got unbelievable gravitas.

Barry Sonnenfeld apparently wanted him desperately for Wild Wild West, but the studio insisted on Kevin Kline. Yeah, it wasn't the Branagh role he was up for, but rather Will Smith's sidekick. How cool would that have been? OK, not very cool, because of that script, but what a cast.

That's the same reasoning behind why Tim Curry, the original voice of the Joker in BTAS, was ultimately replaced by Mark Hamill: he couldn't maintain the Joker voice long enough, violently coughing between takes, and the voice itself was deemed too scary for the intended audience of younger kids. Makes me think that his Joker would have had some vocal similarities to Pennywise, which would have indeed been scary as all hell.

He only recorded around two episodes, but I'd love to hear those recordings...
