Using an innovative new delivery method, MGM plans to make over 400 previously unreleased-on-DVD titles available to buy.

But, he doesn't spotlight Rolling Thunder in the article.

Rolling Thunder is getting a DVD (on Demand) release and he highlights another film.

Where's Phil?

Watching the HD broadcast of Rolling Thunder off my DVR, recorded off MGM HD two days ago. "Recording Options > Keep Until > I DELETE!"

an original method of distribution called MOD -- manufactured on demand.
WB has been doing this a while, no? That's how Don't Be Afraid of the Dark finally came out on DVD.

Whatever, glad more people can get to see these nuggets.

And even with this new release, Phil STILL has it over us on Rolling Thunder.

I wonder how much care was given to that HD Master, and how much better it looks than the DVD they'll be releasing.

It looks like hell, honestly. Milky, not a lot of love given to the color correction. Which I'm fine with, I suppose. If this DVD is anamorphic, it'll probably look about as good.

WB has had mixed results. The kicker is that if the source material is strong or has been remastered for cable broadcast...it'll look good. If it's been sitting on a shelf for a decade, it's going to look like warmed over shit.

If things hold up, I'll be reviewing a few of these discs in December.

That's mostly good news, as MGM has a lot of unreleased stuff they run in HD on their movie channel.

If this means GORP is getting a release on dvd, then I'll spring!

So does anyone think that these films will become available on netflix as well now? I'd love to watch Rolling Thunder, but I've recently put a moratorium on buying new dvds/blurays for the next few months.

And here I was thinking The Complete Metropolis was just about the most exciting bits of cinematic lost and found news in recent memory, now there's the possibility that Killer Party could be on that list of 400. I'm sorry Fritz, but if you'd only made a cheesy 80s slasher film w/ a homicidal spirit and sorority girls...

Buying them yourself, company doling out or requesting via PR channels?

I ask because maybe there is a film on there that a Chewer might love. They want it to get more exposure. Perhaps buy a copy, send it to you for review on the main page and then get it back?

Kinda along the lines of winning those special Graboids.

NINJA III: THE DOMINATION better be part of this.

After Rolling Thunder this is at the top of my wish list. Best opening ever.

If you want to review something, we can work it out.

Have you kept up with my writing on the boards?

Any word on when the first wave of titles (i.e. Rolling Thunder) will be available?

It'd be nice to see Corbucci's The Mercenary get some love from MGM.
