Yeah, I actually loved that scene. Bring your cute grandkids to hide your racist ass! I really loved her tearing into him like ... well ... a white dog. :P
The ending is horrible. I didn't want to spoil anything but it does seem to imply that behavior can't be changed, period. And it suggests the animal is just inherently evil and making conscious choices instead of being the abused thing it was.
