If he outlaws pornography, only outlaws will have it, and then I'd be an outlaw.

Watch porn or Rick Santorum wins!

Considering that red states consume lots and lots of porn (looking at you, Utah), what would they do with themselves without it?

Welcome to the hypocritical nature of the Republican voter. As said in the Horse Apples sketch in the awesome show Wonder Showzen "I'm gonna vote against my interests!" Which brings me to the point what educated person would ever vote for Dick Santorum, Romney I could see a case but who in their right mind vote for Mr Frothy?

I am from the state that sent him to the Senate, and for that I apologize   Of the Republicans I know, I think they view him as the lesser of two evils. Just a guess. I never voted for him.

I wanna get down on my knees and start pleasing Jesus! I wanna feel his salvation all over my face!

Meanwhile, "Real Time with Bill Maher" writer Chris Kelly compares the marketing of Mitt Romney to the marketing of John Carter.

Elsewhere, Mitt manages to be both for and against leaving Afghanistan in the same interview.

The second link features Romney repeating one of my favorite Republican memes from the 2008 McCain campaign, borrowed in turn from George W. Bush: that the aspiring leader's belief in never being held accountable, ever, would extend to his performance in his decision making role as Commander-In-Chief. "I'm not like those uppity liberals," we're assured, "I would do what the Generals want!" All I see is, "being in a visible position of responsibility is hard, can't someone else do it?" Yes, Mitt, someone else can.

It clearly means you can draw your own fucking conclusions about the electorate.

I think Romney's strategy is simple.   Don't say anything stupid during the primaries so you don't have to walk anything back in the General.   This has led to a general feeling of not knowing who this guy is other than he's the guy you want to play the President on "24"  because he looks and sounds the part.   I imagine he'll play up the moderate Republican angle once he secures the nomination (if he secures the nomination).   But right now Romney is like one of those movies that start evaporating from your mind the moment you leave the movie theater.   I still have no idea who this Romney guy really is.

Watched a Santorum stump speech on C-Span for 'fun'

This guy really wants an America that's nothing but open pit mines, and petrochemical production.  He's a Captain Planet villain made flesh.

But ironically, Santorum is creeped out by the flesh. If by a long shot he does become President and bans porn,  I'll can get rich running a Porneasy. Just knock two times and ask if Marylin Chambers  is in.

The first time someone asks Santorum a environmental-related question, stops midway in, and apologizes for confusing him with Looten Plunder, I will do a dance.

I have this very hopeful feeling that a huge gay sex scandal will be coming any minute for Santorum. At which point I put on my 3D glasses, get some popcorn and enjoy as the world burns around me.

I don't. Those sweater vests are like kevlar for sexual advances.

You guys are having way too much lols.  This whole Republican primary season just depresses and distresses me.  :(

I love it, it's inspired me to draw some pretty crazy cartoons so far like Romneybots pandering Michigan "trees are the right height" speech.

I've never seen a politician talk so much about sex. Whatever is in his closet, it has to be something pretty unimaginable. I don't even want to guess what this guy is into.

I picture him like Quarles from Justified, with a young man tied up to his bed. Maybe it's even more perverse and Santorum is into some wholesale Patrick Bateman-esque mass murderings. That would shake up national politics.

The final panel is gold.

As for the lols...well, Bill Maher may say I'm in a bubble, but I don't think there's a chance in hell that any of these assholes are going to get within a thousand yards of the White House. Frankly I think the GOP is throwing the match this time out because they need an adult to come along and clean up their mess.

I can't remember where I heard this being discussed (NPR?) and maybe it's been already brought up here....eventually we get a Romney/Santorum GOP ticket?

Assuming that Romney gets the nod, I could see Santorum trying to jump on to the ticket with a promise of bringing the uber-conservative religious vote to the table.

Whether or not Romney would be willing to (or desperate enough) to select Santorum as his VP...??

To put in Marcus Bachmann terms- Santorum would be "bottom" to Romney's "top"

It would be like a real life combination of  the movies "The Odd Couple" and  "the Human Centipede" as directed by.....Mel Gibson (?)

Edited: Not for real, just satire, but the sad thing is I believed it.

Romney can relate to black Americans because his ancestors owned slaves.

So the media is saying Illinois put the nail in the coffin for Santorum.  Even if he wins Louisana big it won't matter.  Yeah?

I voted on the Republican side this time and the ballot was weak.  maybe 2 contest(including the rep Pres) were contested in Cook County(Chicago area).

I'm sure the suburban ass holes gave Romney the win because I'm sure Rick won Southern Illinois.

Fox news was still talking Bill Maher.  They won't mention Romneys sugar daddies but Bill Maher is wwhat's wrong with the election.

Atleas I won't have to hear ads for 2 years

So Robert DeNiro made an ill-advised joke at an Obama fundraiser:

http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/now/robert-niro-apologizes-michelle-obama-joke-235146206.html

Quote:
"Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney," the Oscar-winning actor began in front of an audience that included BeyonceWhoopi Goldberg, and Harvey Weinstein. "Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?"

As per usual, Newt came out swinging, demanding that President Obama himself apologize because such remarks are divisive.

But Newt making remarks like the one below aren't divisive?

Quote:
"I have two grandchildren -- Maggie is 11, Robert is 9. I am convinced that if we do not decisively win the struggle over the nature of America, by the time they're my age they will be in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American."

It's double-think Draco.  There's nothing divisive about De Niro's comment.  It's just kind of a silly joke.  What's divisive, AND DELIBERATELY SO, is Newt alleging that it is divisive.  By painting an innocuous joke as divisive he's sowing division where there otherwise was none.

Newt's just antsy, and understandably so.  When you look at all the damage done to the world by secular atheist nations run by radical Muslims over the years, it's all the bravest of us can do not to soil our briefs in terror.

I think statements like this by Newt is all the more reason for strict term limits for Congress. At some point, he stopped listening to himself speak and stopped listening to other people remark on his speaking. The more former members of Congress speak, the more I am sure that all of them actually don't listen to anything that anyone says. Newt was elected 10 times from the state of Georgia, which is probably 6 times more than was necessary. Maybe everyone would listen a bit closer if you only got to stick around for a couple of terms.

I just heard Romney say when we replace a Harvard Law professor with a Conservative business man, and got a lot of applause. Unlike the crowd I remember the last time a Conservative business man was President: a budget surplus was turned into deficit, pre 9/11 intell was ignored, Bin Laden wasn't a concern after 9/11, a war was started based on lies, DOJs where fired for not pursuing bullshit voter fraud cases, and CIA agent was fired because her husband had proof Bush was lying about WMDs. I don't wanna go back to that!

He doesn't even necessarily have to be into anything that weird; he's probably just deeply ashamed of whatever he does want, whether it's women, men, or whatever. It's associating desire with shame that makes pre-modern civilizations like Bronze Age Jerusalem, medieval Rome, and 21st Century Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district such toxic environments for men and women alike to have spent their developmental years.

Romney does seem to have really ratcheted up the bullshit in the last 2-3 weeks.

Listening him speak, he just seems to be pulling all this pandering rhetoric out of his ass...are people really falling for this shit (again)?

Literally so, since DeNiro was parodying some of the tasteless and catty bullshit that was said about Michelle Obama in 2008. Everyone in the room got the joke, because none of them are undiagnosed amnesiacs.

The man lives in a bubble.

Here's what's so funny about that quote.   Romney has run such a bland Primary campaign that he doesn't have to hit a reset button for the General.   As I said, several posts up, that's been his whole strategy.   Other than the harmless pandering gaffes like "I like trees", he can coast right into the General and tack a little more towards the center without missing a beat.   If nothing else, it shows what a tin ear Romney and his team have.   Of course there might be one thing he might want to wipe from the memory banks.....

Romney says George W. Bush saved us from a Depression.   Not Obama.

Quote:

ARBUTUS, Md. -- At a town hall here on Wednesday, Mitt Romney claimed that the economic policies of former President George W. Bush and then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson were responsible for keeping the United States out of a full-scale depression.

"I keep hearing the president say he's responsible for keeping the country out of a Great Depression," Romney said in front of around 200 people at an American Legion post. "No, no, no, that was President George W. Bush and Hank Paulson."

Here's the thing.   Even if the Wall Street bailout helped steer us away from the Abyss,  that doesn't forgive the fact that GWB drove us toward that point.   Besides that, all I remember from that time is George W Bush hiding while Paulson played the part of POTUS.   Not so sure it's a smart idea to be a champion of George Bush or even mention his name.
