As much as I like watching Olbermann, he's got a history of locking horns with his bosses which goes at least as far back as his ESPN days. During his recent tenure with Current, he's been publicly critical of that network's admittedly subpar production values (lights going out during live Countdown broadcasts and the like.)

Olbermann's replacement at Current, Eliot Spitzer, is a former state Governor and no slouch on politics from a liberal perspective. He's not known for being a TV host, though, and it'll be interesting to see what impact all this has on the competition between Current and MSNBC for ratings in the near and long term.

I think that the only people who would care about Rubio's embellishment (intentional or not) of his parents' immigration story would never cast a vote for Romney anyway.  Rubio explained his side here: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1011/66567.html

Let him explain it some more if he needs to.  He's more than capable.  Months after this came out, he still held a 50-29 job approval rating in Florida.  Most, if not all, fair-minded people would give him the benefit of the doubt on this.  After all, did anyone decide not to vote for Obama in 2008 because of Biden's past problems with plagiarism?

Yeah it's probably true that Keith couldn't work with them. He's proven that time and time again whereever he's gone to work. .

As for the Gore network, I just see them as the left wing Fox News. I have no love or respect for Gore. Sue me for having my own point of view. I refuse to watch either of the extremes on that front for my television news preferring MSMBC, NBC and CNN. Does that allow me to be safely esconsed in the safe middle ground and safely not one of the hated people on the Right? After all I am a registered Democrat. Or is not parroting the party line a offense now? I thought the Dems were the ones with the 'big tent' allowing all kinds of beliefs and thoughts. I happen to find Gore to fall somewhere in the group of failed Democratic party leaders like John Edwards. He's far from some sainted sage like Ted Kennedy has been made out to be.

Exactly.  The only thing bigger than Olbermann's talent is his ego.  He's thrown similar tantrums everywhere he's gone.  Dude doesn't know how to cross a bridge without immediately setting it on fire.

I'm terrified about the notion of Olbermann being a radical.

There's always Link TV!

I like Eliot Spitzer but I'd rather see him in a courtroom prosecuting the #@$% out of those &^%$ers on Wall St. than on TV.  It sucks about Olbermann.  His Current show was more entertaining than the MSNBC version.  He has a lifetime pass from me for covering voting irregularities and hacked votes way back when.  He was all over Wisconsin and Occupy Wall St. when other media outlets gave it scant seconds, if they bothered to cover it at all.  He's a free thinker, which is extremely rare on today's TV.  I don't doubt that he's hard to work with though.  It's really a tragedy.

As to MSNBC, Current, Link or any network being in any way a "left wing Fox," two words:  basic cable.  Most networks can't withstand losing money for 10 years to attain the position Fox enjoys today.  Also: programming.  Not one of those channels can afford to be a 24-hour polemic.

MSNBC is still the channel that fired Phil Donahue for refusing to drink the Kool-Ade before the invasion of Iraq. Olbermann, who replaced Donahue, rarely editorialized on-air until the Bush Administration's handling of Hurricane Katrina's aftermath finally rubbed the last of the post-911 polish off of that President's armor. Viewers and media critics responded favorably, and a three or four hour block of prime time television was programmed for an otherwise entirely unserved audience.

Before that, what liberal editorial programming I've seen on American television in my life has consisted of Norman Lear sitcoms and Designing Women. That's the "liberal media" they complain about. If TV news, or even print, were some liberal bastion, nobody would have invented blogging.

My point is that pegging Gore, or even Olbermann, as fringe lefties is kind of bizarre, and it's the kind of annoying hyperbole we always get from the right.

By making liberal a dirty word, the right has done such a shrewd job of effectively controlling the perception of what politically moderate is, it's amazing to me this is a group that can barely field one candidate in two Presidential races who might be remotely electable.

Back to Santorum. I've watch the clip a couple of times now. He really does sound like he is about to say it. That said I really do think he wasn't about to say the N word. He can't be that stupid. Yes I know he is a creationist.

There's no other possible word he could have been trying to say that would be so offensive he would stop himself from saying it. I think he IS that stupid and his true colors are showing.

This whole controversy over Santorum 's possible N-Bomb is pointless his whole political career was done a couple of weeks ago anyway. Started with him saying that people should stay home instead of vote for Romney vs Obama, yelling obsentities at A Times reporter and now this oh and not forget his "blah people " gaffe in Iowa. Just shows he's not only unpresidential but a complete moron, sadly this will probably get him a show on Fox News or some Christian television network, at worst a radio show.

He already had a job at Fox, and I'm sure he'll have one when his campaign is over.

Apparently, Keith wanted to leave for a while, just not so unceremoniously.  He felt that Current TV was disorganized and had no clear future.  He also considered it mismanaged, with issues as ridiculous as no one in the office being able to use a printer because there was no toner available.

Which is rather sad as he barely has any value to say, I don't I think I OD'd on things to bash Santorum, which I never thought would happen I think I'd rather rail against Romney for being an out of touch 1% automatron and Obama for being a pseudo-republican. Honestly I think I might vote for the Green Party or some other party .

Michelle gets slimed: First Lady caught in green goo attack at children's awards

"Michelle Obama got more than she'd bargained for when she turned up at last night's Kids' Choice Awards.

But perhaps it should have been no surprise when she was splattered with slime at the conclusion of Hollywood's zaniest awards show.

Drenching celebrities with green goo is a hallowed tradition at the KCAs, and the First Lady was lucky not to be directly in the firing line."

Sarah Palin is going to host the Today Show with Katie Couric this Tuesday:

Here's her announcement:

Quote:

"I see this as a good opportunity to bring an independent, common-sense conservative perspective to NBC. We're 'going rogue' and infiltrating some turf for a day," Palin told Breitbart News.

"Going rogue"?  "Independent, common-sense conservative"?  I think there are only so many phrases she's capable of putting into a sentence.

That has to be an April Fools prank.

This wasn't, however:

http://www.columbian.com/news/2012/mar/31/county-gop-fails-to-fill-slate-delegates/

The county I live in wasn't able to fill all their delegate seats because the Ron Paul minority filibustered.

Between Newt, Santorum, and Paul supporters going scorched earth, it looks like Romney still has an uphill battle.

It appears that both Romneys are prone to gaffes.

Ann Romney defended her husband’s sense of humor today during a radio interview, explaining that if people think the candidate seems too stiff at times as the host suggested, she thinks “we better unzip him and let the real Mitt Romney out.

That's what she said.

And -- it gets better.

Ann Romney’s remarks came during an interview with Baltimore radio station WBAL, during which the host asked her, “And one of the things, Ann Romney, that folks talk about with your husband, Mitt Romney, and I’ve seen him in casual conversation-He comes off very smooth and okay. But sometimes he comes off stiff. Do you have to fight back some criticism, like ‘My husband isn’t stiff, OK?’”

Is that even a gaffe?  Personally I find it sort of reassuring to hear something that suggests Mormons actually like fucking.

They tend to have a zillion children, so I think it's always been fair to say they like fucking.

Yeah, but with some of the more extreme denominations you can get the sense that the kids are the cart, and it's rare that they express any affection for the horse.  It's humanizing when they do, at least to this godless hedonist.

I don't know about that as 'sin' is big in the mormon faith....I think "being fruitful" is a prerequisite for doing the Mormon thing...sex is probably viewed as like washing the dishes, gardening or missionary (hah) work. (plenty of other euphemisms available)

So with all the recent polls showing that the GOP has (understandably) lost women voters under 50, anyone think that'll affect the VP pick? Will they go Palin-ish again, but with a vocabulary?

Condi Rice?

I'd love to see Condi on the ticket, if only to piss the white supremacists off further.

Would that even work?  It seems like the equivalent of repeating stuff and hope people eventually believe you.

I might be giving people too much credit though.

I get the feeling Condi's got too much baggage.  Her on the ticket would open a Pandora's box of Bush-era &^%$.

Not to mention scare off a lot of folks who would be holding their noses while they voted for a Mormon in the fist place.

Condi on a VP ticket will bring back the lies about Iraq, the 9/11 memo she ignored, letting Osama Bin Laden slip away...which is all body blows Obama and Biden can land on the GOP ticket. Especially Bin Laden, since Obama got the fucker.
