Literally played this for about thirty minutes, already intrigued. It's a Japanese RPG, so it's weird, about a father trying to save his daughter from some unknown plague. The combat is very Zelda like, more about bashing the shit out of shit and using powers than real tactics, but it's got style.
Right at the start of the game you're forced into this battle which goes on for like ten minutes, just you, your trusty piece of pipe, the dark powers you've suddenly taken unto yourself, a snowy, post-apocalyptic Tokyo, and a choir in the background. It should be infuriating, but something about the combat, about the music, about the setting and about the fact you shoot up from level 1 to 23 just feels 'special'. Like there's a genuine sense of melancholy, and loss, to the thing, like you've given something up for this power. Really odd.
The bulk of the game seems to be very sidequested orientated, you have to stuff to do all over the place, but it definitely seems like a go to this place, collect this object, for some purpose sort of deal.
Anyone else playing?
