...but, alas, it's only temporary. Maybe.

Eh, I have to admit there is something appealing about the idea of Broadway serving as a musical theater Circus Maximus. As the sun sets on the American Empire, it makes sense that the blood lust would get amped up when it comes to our national pastimes.

NASCAR doesn't get shut down because of their crashes.. indeed, most people will admit that must no doubt be part of the draw for endless oval racing. Same must go for a musical about SPIDERMAN. You don't attend to listen to U2 music about a "spider man", you go for the stunts -- risk of injury included.

Since I assume no one is being shanghaied into wire work, and those who choose to take the risk are no doubt well compensated.. I am against a shut down, in this case

Though I must point out that as I stated in the other thread about this, there have been other Broadway shows that have worked with wire stunts before, and none of those are notorious for on stage injuries, as far as I know. It's possible the SM people are just incompetent

We don't know the nature of the stunts as of yet. However, the difference between a "Peter Pan" production in which characters are fully harnessed about the torso and what is being described as a "sling-shot effect" should be readily apparent. It seems as if they're attempting to stretch the medium here.

Though from the article I assumed the sling shot thing involved a performer on a wire, you point is well taken. Still though, even if it turns out to basically be a stunt show wrapped in musical trappings, I don't have a big problem with it.

With that said, maybe the Broadway talent is not up to the job. Perhaps the production should try and train stunt people to be actors instead of doing it the other way around

This project sounded like a glorious flop from the beginning. I look forward to the New York theater critics ripping it to shreds, if it ever gets to actually be performed.

This will probably be the biggest fiasco since Carrie, or turn out to be a gigantic hit. I'm gonna go with my gut and say the former, though.
