(I cracked this sorta mean joke next to a republican friend...he did not enjoy it, but he likes the show)

Have you watched the show or are you saying that based on the fact pretty much every CBS show is like that?

I'm not saying it doesn't pander somewhat to the older set. But it's far from something like it's predecessor JAG.

Popular Republican Shows:

4. V
9. Dancing with the Stars
15. Two and a Half Men

Popular Democrat Shows:
4. Kourtney and Kloe Take Miami
5. 90210
6. Private Practice
So, pretty much anyone coming here to use this study as an example of how the people in your political party are cool and the people in the opposing political party suck, should probably just shut the hell up.

Diva, what does 238 or 184 mean in this study?

I have no idea. They don't explain in the article. The number of people who said they watch that show?

ETA: There is supposedly a more detailed article at the Hollywood Reporter, but the Yahoo article doesn't link to it. And my attempt to search the site came up fruitless.

What a bullshit waste of time and resources.

I was asking because my mind automatically flashed for The Mentalist let's say 119 against (116) is not statistically significant.

It still doesn't say how the shows were rated. It was always a stupid study, but made doubly worse because the methods are so unclear.

Yet again, I love the conclusions made from Dems' preferences:

We’ve learned Democrats are, depending on your perspective, discriminating viewers who prefer highly original, well-written series or are cynics who enjoy watching jerks.
Why can't we be both?!

I'm not getting the scoring, in paticular I notice that on the democratic side it says the good wife scores a 119 (whatever that means) with republicans, but yet is not on the other side of the score where two different 119 shows are shown. So whats up with that?
Because Dems scored it higher than 119. It's about which side scored it higher than the other, rather than the score by itself.

It's awkward though, since by itself, it'd be tying Big Bang and Mentalist as popular Republican shows.

Desperate Housewives is tied between the two parties, but doesn't break the top 15 on the Demorat side.

I thought it was the other way around you should look at the differences Breaking Bad 117(50).
I just noticed Dems are not ordered from 9-15.

Damages should be tied for 14th. But it's mostly in order from 9-15.

Breaking Bad seems to be in the right spot. 117 is lower than anything else the Dems had on top 15.

Since How I Met You Mother is on the Republican side, I guess everybody does have some good in them. However if you don't believe in evolution or global warming, think invading Iraq was a good idea, and believe tax cuts for the rich are a good thing, your still wrong.

Yet another reason to be an independent.

The Big Bang Theory is rancid shit.

I haven't seen an episode yet of Mad Men(please don't hurt me, it will happen), but I'd imagine the purpose is to demonize that era and what they stood for. Republicans are aware of that. So they choose to watch NCIS instead.

I've always known the reason CBS has been "the number one network" over the last decade was solely because it's huge fodder for the Republican base.
