That's what I'm talking about. They removed the supernatural element, but we still ended up with a version of the character that felt right (much like the Joker is still very much the Joker despite being slightly altered). Ivy can be tweaked to fit Nolan's approach in the same way. I don't want her to, because I'm not really interested in seeing her in this film (something I don't have to worry about at all), just making a point.

Edit: Also, regarding the old threads. Irrespective of the films being discussed, complaints about how cluttered the narrative of a non-existent film is has always been one of the funniest, i.e., fucking dumbest bits of those conversations. It always bugs me when people prattle on about it.

I get ya, I'm just not sure how giant plants/vines/etc attacking Batman can be explained using real-world science.

Discreetly dump those in the non-existent Lazarus pit not featured in Batman Begins. A woman surrounded by exotic, weird, but real plants (though it's not like Nolan is above creating fake toxic plants, or fictional tech) from which she derives a wide array of poisons and toxins and whatnot? Doable. How could she be a large scale threat? The Subway Sarin attacks? The 2001 Anthrax attacks? Yeah, it's all there. That said, I have difficulty imagining her fitting comfortably into the narrative flow of the series, particularly with The Dark Knight Rises being the film that brings everything to a close. She doesn't seem appropriate, despite being theoretically plausible as an adversary.

Actually, put that way, I can easily see her fitting into the last film, as part of the criminal element's exploiting the mess and opening left by the Joker: time for the "freaks" to come out and play and show the traditional mob what fucking with Gotham really looks like.

That said, I still don't think Ivy's going to be used. Talia and/or Selina Kyle seem the most obvious...and cue referencing the kibitzing that's gone on in the TDKR pre-release thread about the appeal or lack thereof of Catwoman.

I would be incredibly disappointed if Nolan tryed to "rework" Poison Ivy and shit all over trying to fit Mr. Freeze into his "realistic" approach. If they can create a fear serum and spread it through the water supply or develop a "bat-sonar" that runs off the populations cell phones then I'm pretty sure he could develop a eco-terrorist Poison Ivy, a short arms dealer with a penchant for birds or a crazed cryogenics scientist/bank robber who uses a liquid nitrogen powered gun. Anything is possible people, and in my opinion it's not so much how "unrealistic" a villain is, but how do they fit into Nolan's universal theme.

But then it basically becomes Scarecrow from the first film, right?
Anyways, fanwank fanwank fanwank

I meant to point that out, it's repetitive. Also, it's only fanwank if you want it. I'm laying that rule down right now.
