Damnable LIES AND SLANDER.

I think it's cool, and tell me you wouldn't still be terrified of that thing were it to show up unexpectedly one day while you were on walk about

I do still prefer the Speilberg Rex though, ultimately. I think it is very scary looking

I'd hate to see the coyote.

Thanks, thanks everyone!

Print the legend.

Granted it's been awhile, but didn't they allude to this in Jurassic Park? I coulda sworn either Sam or that kid were talking about T-Rex having feathers.

I think you're confusing two separate things, when Dr Grant is talking about the raptor having bones "just like a bird" etc, and then later when Dr Grant is trying to escape the children as they prepare to set out on the tour, Tim is rattling on about how some other guy wrote a book that said dinosaurs evolved into birds

No one talks about a T Rex with feathers

Very welcome! I've seen the movie so many times I have it nearly memorized

Well, in JP3 the velociraptors had some feathers.. so there's that. But it was just down their head like some kind of Mad Max style road warrior.. and the T-rex still looked normal.. so there is also THAT

Yeah, but velociraptors had a lot more feathers in real life, if the current consensus is to be believed.

Personally, I think the feathered Tyrannosaurus is pretty awesome!

Thanks to BTSMGL for the link -- I've wallpapered the image!

A paleontologist I know from another board would probably be pretty annoyed by this rendering. While it's becoming commonly accepted that a lot of dinosaurs had feathers, and the T-Rex probably did have feathers as well, it wouldn't have been COVERED in feathers. Due to its size it would have generated a shit ton of heat, and if it were covered in feathers it wouldn't have been able to efficiently radiate that heat away and would overheat and die.

So it's arms were even shorter stubs than previously thought? Poor dude.
Also, would it not have mottled or camo feathers? This fanciful design is charming but seems unlikely

That's not a scientists rendering it's one of Sammy's paintings from his sketchbook thread at Concept Art.org.

Edit: here. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...=96149&page=18

Rather sloppy reporting on geekology's part.
