PIRATES OF THE BORING POSTER

Teaser poster for On Stranger Tides.

Maybe it looks metallic because it's revealed that Sparrow is actually a T-800? Or is such a development too tame compared to how wildly off rails this franchise has become?
True. The last two were total balls, but with the exclusion of the Knightley/Bloom characters and more Rush and Depp... it's got me kind of looking forward to it.

Wow, holy yawn.

Meh, I kinda like it. I like the detail on all the little trinkets hanging off the skull. When you have a franchise as big as POTC, it's kind of refreshing to see it's at least trying to establish it's own iconography for the ads instead of lazilly reverting to a leering Jack Sparrow head or something

One thing though would be that I don't like the neblulous black background. I'd have it look like that skull was strapped to the mast with a black flag behind it, or at very least make it floating in space infront of a black canvass background (where you can see the stiching and seams, ETC)

I actually kinda like the poster and am looking forward to the movie coming out.

At World's End killed any interest I had in this franchise's future dead with that Kraken corpse on the beach.

I'll see the movie, but that poster shows a depressing lack of originality.

It's carrying on the brand established by the first three teaser posters. Is anyone honestly surprised by this?

As long as McShane gets his own character poster when the time comes, I'm good.

Seconded. Hopefully we'll see something more striking and original closer to release date (though I wouldn't count on it). It's now a brand for Disney, and the primary interest is in letting consumers know the brand is continuing.

Not surprised, just getting a little overused. whatever, please tell me how wrong I am now.

Agreed. If anything gets me through the door for this it will be McShane.

None of the above prevents the poster from feeling incredibly dull, though.

Any franchise that has a pirate midget firing a hand-cannon in it is alright by me. Bring it on!

Isn't this basically a teaser poster? Didn't the other movies (I know that At World's End had individual character posters) have different posters closer to release?

But yes, still a boring poster.

Yup. Didn't even notice the metal sheen until 2nd glance. Teases the brand and that's about it.
