Chewer Movies

Thread Starter
There are certain Chewers I always associate with certain movies, series and TV shows. The biggest one would obviously be Greg Clark and Ghostbusters, but there are more as well:

Rath: LA Confidential, West Wing, Streets of Fire
Phil: Two Lane Blacktop, Rolling Thunder
Dickson: Star Wars series
Paul McCartney: James Bond films, Prince films
McNooj: Edgar Wright fanboy
Darkmite: All kaiju films
Jesse Custer: Lost, Twin Peaks (and if you don't associate him with those series, you REALLY need to read his excellent Lost & Found column)

There must be more I'm missing. What are some films that you associate with certain Chewers? Do you think there are films associated with you?
You and Brick.
Mr Duke Fleed: XMO:W (or perhaps old BSG, if we are allowed to use TV)

No clue if people associate me with certain films or not
post #4 of 128
Martin S: Turkish Star Wars and Martial Arts films
post #5 of 128
Kate and Radio. Or Mice and Men. Or Ben Foster in Freaks and Geeks. Not sure why, exactly. WAIT...no, that's not it.
I obviously haven't been rhapsodizing about Phantom of the Paradise or Planet of the Apes nearly enough.

Rounders is Nick.
Once is Devin.
Spike is a bunch of Asian movies, so I'll pick Oldboy to narrow it down.

Dunno why, I just do.
Princess Kate: Babylon A.D. and POTC:TCOTBPAEDADFER
post #10 of 128
Hmm, I would say Planet of the Apes for Devin and Phil.
Fleed, anything that deals with super heroes, animated or not.

ETA: Oh shoot, while there are a ton of folks that post in the b-action, I can only think of Erix and Rene off the top of my head.
Fleed is definitely 'G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra'. He was the ONLY defender of that film in the lead-up to its release, and we all had to eat a ton of crow when it turned out to be a fun movie.
Much as he's been a fanboy in recent months for Wright, mcnooj is inexorably tied with Speed Racer for me.
The Princess and Alexander

Sebastian OB and Nightmare on Elm Street

Spike Marshall and Aliens

Diva and Battle Royale

Riviello and American Werewolf in London

I doubt I'm tied into anything.
I can't think of a movie that I'm necessarily tied with, but I'm pretty sure that everyone knows me as the resident RUSH fanatic.
Silent Hill's my baby. I'm fully aware of this.
Mike's Pants - Punisher: War Zone
Ken Savage - Transformers: The Movie (or Masters of the Universe)
Mr. Coombs - Alpha Dog

As noted above, duke and G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra is, of course, perfect.
I haven't really championed any film recently, but back in the day it would have been Memento or Donnie Darko. I am also a huge apologist for the Terminator and Matrix franchises.

Geoff Foster = Primer
Devin = Planet of the Apes
Xion = Matrix Trilogy
Innocent X/Kirby = Croupier
Jacob Singer = Jacob's Ladder
Sammy Jankis = Memento
Justin Clark = The Crow

Agreed with Dickson and Star Wars

You were a big proponent of it when it came out. I only Netflixed it because of your recommendation.

Amphibatron/Abbott & Prospero: Creepshow
Litmus Configuration: Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Tati: Armageddon
Domingo: The Sweet Hereafter
I link Ripoll with the BLACK CHRISTMAS remake. I actually added it to my Netflix queue because of him, but I'm always bumping up something else in its place when it gets to the top spot.

ETA: And, yeah, I do loves me some CREEPSHOW.
I've seen Black Christmas, but I conflate Ripoll with Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Lucky him!

Original or remake? Cuz I'm pretty sure Sebastian just got tagged with the Elm Street remake a few posts up.
Black Christmas on the remake, TCM on the original.

I never get included in these. Thanks, Diva.

There are a lot of 'Devin' movies for me. Once, any Harry Potter, even Avatar. Then there are Chud movies, which are basically any 80s fantasy.

Diva, what's the movie you reported lost and it was really at the receptionist? I used to know but it's gone from my memory now.
Heh, honestly, with Patrick, I think Woody Allen. But, yeah, also BLACK CHRISTMAS (I couldn't help myself. And it has Winstead in it so...).

I may get around to actually letting it get mailed to me one of these days.
Kate's got a few she's vocal about, Alexander, Raiders, Avatar (3D Revolution!)

To go off topic a little, but Judas is probably the person who made me be way less snobby about 80s rock music in general. He's championed some really great records and he got me into RUSH as well. Whenever I see Judas post I always think about RUSH or RAINBOW...well either that or secret Masonic Cabals.

I'm never going to shake the 'Asian Movie Geek' tag am I? Still Oldboy and Aliens are nice films to be associated with.

My personal ones:

McNooj - Speed Racer
Phil - Mad Men
Rath - The Squid and the Whale
Diva - Arrested Development
Devin - The Fountain
Nick - Super Troopers
Justin - The Crow
Litmus - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
post #33 of 128
TV:

Subotai: Friday Night Lights
Wadew1: Batman: the Brave and The Bold
Phil: V (original. And remake I guess)
Matchstick and Misfit: The new 90210

I mostly championed the Black Christmas because it was more stylish and entertaining than it had any right to be. The problem with recommending movies that blow away low expectations is that anyone you recommend them to will have different expectations. Still worth seeing, though.

Most of the examples people have listed I had no idea about, though. Diva and Battle Royale?

It was a TV show: Arrested Development. I'm probably more affiliated with TV shows than movies. I'm currently known among all my friends as the go-to person for all Community related news, as I previously was with Lost. I've been a huge champion of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but Mattioli gets the CHUD branding. And I will always associate Jesse Custard with Carnivale, though his recent Lost rewatch column has attached him to that show as well.

Rath = West Wing
Farsight = Fringe
Schwartz = The Sopranos

Diva didn't like Battle Royale because the kids 'who broke the rules' of the game won. A three of four page shitstorm then occurred.

What? That's not at all what happened. I was piled on because I missed most of the social commentary and focused my discussion on the "action" parts of the film. So there was a ton of "you don't get it" slams, which I stubbornly tried to defend myself against.

Oooh, can I get a link to that Diva Royale shitstorm? I'm having no luck on Google.

I've never thought of myself as an Edgar Wright fanboy, though I can see why someone would with my current activity on the Scott Pilgrim thread. Speed Racer, definitely. Hahaha.

EDIT: TaylorF - Glee, How to Train Your Dragon
The Prankster - The Hangover, hehehehe
Hmmm...my love of Carnival of Souls must have gone unnoticed 'round these parts. I would also accept being associated with the original Death Race 2000, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, or any Robert Altman film.

Also, Darkmite will forever be associated with the Godzilla franchise in my mind.

Well, we'll have to take your word for it. Seems the thread itself got 'audited'

Thanks Spike.

EDIT: I wish I was active on the boards while Arrested Development was on.

Or you can read everyone's statements about how I didn't "get" the film. Not sure what point you're trying to prove.
Rene (Mr. Eko) - THE ROOKIE
Princess Kate, That would be...Classic Battlestar Galactica, or Glen A. Larson's.

Judas Booth, G.I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra? I agree with that assessment. YO JOE!

As for myself...Superhero films, Martial Arts, Action, and of course...Ufo Robo Grendizer!

Wow, no kidding it got audited... I feel gypped!
As for...Rene (Mr.Eko), I would suggest more as a preference, than a title...Say Anything! Rene (Mr.Eko) = The Expendables!

For Moltisanti = Forced Vengeance. He identifies with that, as he seems to...Hate, that Norris classic, more than any other.
