Edgar Allan Poe loved wearing sneakers, so they got that right.

A photo of Cusack waiting around set portrays nothing about his ability to portray Edgar Allen Poe. That said, this FEELS WRONG.

Never saw it, but I hear NINJA ASSASSIN proved McTeigue simply has an affinity for the dark.

Yep. I look at this and have an irrational fear that they are going to somehow try to twist THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY so that Daniel Burnham will construct some sort of elaborate trap within the World's Fair to personally capture H.H. Holmes.

Too bad it isn't Jeffrey Combs, he's amazing as Poe.

I caught Ninja Assassin the week it opened. Not so much dark, but badly-shot scenes of what would have been really well-choreographed action (google the stunt team videos). Not the greatest flick but it definitely delivers what the title promised, which is much more than I can say from The Squid and The Whale. Many a Kaiju fan walked out of that one depressed...

I gave McTeague one free pass after V for Vendetta that he has used up, so here's hoping this is a return to form. As for Cusak as Poe, it seems that he's lost that little bit of paunch that I thought made him look a little more like Poe, but I think he can pull it off (and think it will be a career reinvigorator if he does). The shoes will be off-screen, but it reminds me of the fact that whenever I see contemporary actors in period garb, I wonder where they're keeping their cell phones.
