Best news I've heard all day. I literally couldn't be happier for the guy. This is what all Keaton fans have been hoping for.

First of all, Keaton was one of the best things about The Other Guys. He was simply great.

Second, this is fantastic news. More Keaton is a truly great thing.

I'm happy as a pig in shit right now.

I hope it's a series. Something that gives him an iconic character that he can really sink his teeth into. Like Kiefer Sutherland in 24 or Michael C. Hall in Dexter.

Good news. Keaton was good and he continues to be good when he gets the chance. I really don't get why his career stalled so badly post-Jackie Brown.

I agree on both counts.

Keaton on a The Wire or Boardwalk Empire equivalent would be glorious. Been a fan since Night Shift.

It's thought of very fondly now and it got good reviews when it opened, but Jackie Brown didn't have the sort of cultural impact needed to give Keaton a big comeback. It wasn't Pulp Fiction. And, even if it had been, Keaton's participation - good as he is in the movie - is minor compared to De Niro, Jackson and Forster.

His career was already in the shitter even then, though. Yes, he was getting a couple of lead parts. But in crappy projects. Multiplicity being a notable exception.

...and no more Batman.

Well that's just a match made in Valhalla, Olympus, Nirvana and Heaven.

Is Robert Wuhl upset?
Yeah. The Batman thing was a misstep. They offered him 30 million and he still said no. One could say that speaks well of his integrity. And they could be right.

But, at the same time, I'm pretty sure that his agent was slamming his fists on his steering wheel and singing The Ballad Of FUCK YOU MOTHERFUCKER all the way home. Later, he got together for beers with the studio exec who had made the offer....

Exec: Can you believe the balls on that son of a bitch?
Agent: Yeah...
Exec: I've got egg on my face. But you? You look pissed.
Agent: I NEED to fuck him in the ass...
Exec: Well... I've got some scripts in my office that no one wants to do. Guaranteed to tank like a fuckin' tank in Tanksville. Get this... A live action version of Frosty the fucking SNOWMAN. But you need to build to that... He might think something is up. I also have this piece-of-shit romantic comedy about a couple of speech writers.
Agent: Show me.

But that was years ago. It's time they let him play again.
