Set It Off (1996) Questions

1. Why did John C. McGinley let Jada Pinkett Smith go?
2. Did anybody buy Vivica A. Fox's transition from innocent to bank robber? She skipped several thousand steps in between the two.

McGinley let her go because he knew Jada had gotten quite a raw deal in terms of her brother's death. They'd already clipped Fox, Latifah, and Kimberly Elise at that point so McGinley likely figured letting Jada go would allow him to feel as if he had both done a good job as a cop and as a human being.

Viveca Fox's motivation seemed reasonable to me. She was fired from her bank teller job simply because she knew the guy that robbed her bank. Her motives were both econimic and revenge against the very same banking industry that had done her so wrong.

My question would be where did Blair Underwood's wardrobe in the film come from? Some astonishing suits.

Eh, I didn't buy either character arc.

The costume designer, though, was Sylvia Vega-Vasquez who not only did the costumes for La Bamba and Menace II Society, but Roseanne: An Unauthorized Biography as well!

Looks more like the autobiography of Anne Ramsey to me.

Am I the only one who still kind of digs En Vogue's "What's It Gonna Be?"

Set It Off may hold the record for most foreplay in a heist/bank robbery movie. I thought they'd never get to boning, they were so busy caressing each other.
